OK, I'm trying to post photos of the "carnage" of my broken driver's side mirror and will give a bit of info on how it all came together. As I mentioned in the earlier post,
my mirror got tangled up with the garage door frame. All the mechanicals and the glass mirror itself were not damaged. The chrome cover appeared fine but there were a dozen broken pieces of black plastic. I researched the parts site on Toyota Parts Central (Olathe Toyota) and ordered what I thought was going to be a complete plastic cover (part #87045-04080). The part arrived and it is merely the chrome piece (same as I have in the second pic). I called back to Olathe and find that I have to get the whole mirror assembly (part #87940-04250), which doesn't include the cover!. As it turns out, my chrome cover was fine and I'm returning the one sent from Olathe.

Final cost will be $290 plus the 2 way shipping of the cover....total $310 (ouch), and the fix took maybe 45 minutes.

BTW, the 2016/17 door panel removal is different than the 2nd generations. I'd recommend watching this video for a few secrets as to where the screws are hiding and how to removal of panel.... http://www.bing.com/videos/search?q...78EE4A4C95A0D3FFF6DE78EE4A4C95A0D&FORM=VRDGAR

    Good luck, Mike

I feel your pain. I broke off the bottom black plastic peice a few months back, while backing out of the garage.... Thought, oh I'll get hop online and order the black plastic peice, can't be more than $20. Yeah, NO. Had to order whole new mirror, because they don't make that peice. Think it was $250ish for the mirror. Needless to say, I pay attention every time I back out now.
