I'll try to be in attendance for this one as well, barring any unforeseen house work. No mods for me.

I need to straighten my steering wheel, adjust driveline angle, and wire up my light bar, and my rear light pods.

@nagorb Bill @BamaToy1997 did the bearings in my first gen. The front end is pretty easy if you buy the bearing and hub/spindle assembly already together. If you want to go with the old and just change the bearing, they you have to grind off the old bearing, and press the new one in place after disassembling everything of course.

As for the rear, you have to remove the axle shafts and brake lines to get to the bearings. I can't remember if they are press fitted or not.

I thought for a first gen you couldn't buy bearings already pressed? Or are you saying get a set of spare spindles and have him do the work and just swap them? That would be a good idea, can I do it myself? Sure, but can I do it in a weekend that could be an issue!

The rear ive looked into and figure I can do in a weekend myself but prior knowledge is always helpful.

Don't know if you can buy New units already pressed together. I just assumed someone would sell them.

I can't remember why we replaced the bearings and not the whole unit to begin with. Maybe price? It was a pain the the ass though. That I remember.

Maybe Bill will show up, he has a better memory than I do.

From what I understand you can only buy the hub for second gens, but I hadn't thought about just getting spindles and pressing in new bearings. That would make it a whole lot easier to swap in a weekend.

Air fitting blew up in my face when I touched it, done it a million times, I've seen them shear before when dropped with a tool attached, but never like this.

    Thanks

Thanks to safety glasses that's all it was, they took most of the damage, hurt like a bitch but I went right back after I got all cleaned up. I was telling my wife how BS it was that I didn't get any cool scars from it.

    best wheel bearings around! www.marionbumper2bumper.com
1st gen Tacoma 4wd requires the bearing to be pressed out from the spindle assembly, and then a new bearing and seal pressed into place. (@Davtopgun we replaced yours in this manner because the bearings were shot and you can't get the entire assembly like the 2nd gen) You COULD get a set of spindles from a salvage yard, get the bearings replaced, then swap out the spindles. If you do it this way then you will have to get an alignment for sure.

Same, not sure why it doesn't show up when I'm tagged. I was just looking around and noticed this thread. Then I saw my name and was like wtf? I may ride down. Not sure yet on that date. I'll hopefully have new front coils and shocks to install by that time so I may be in. I'll know as it gets closer.
