    Hello Tacomaworld!

Just bought a 17 TRD offroad long bed in magnetic grey. I've been doing some reading and I see contradictions on a few things I have questions on and hope you can just tell me because you know for a fact.
Oil filter P/N? ( The one I looked up that works for the 2016 apparently doesn't fit the 2017 according to Amazons garage exact fit feature.)
Gear oil weight? ( I hear the diffs are low)
transfer case oil weight? (I hear these are low too)
Transmission fluid weight? ( I hear these are low)

Is there a way to see if my truck came with TSB REV 1 already completed?

Are toyota fluids mixable with exact same weight of other brands? Ford, for example has some anti chatter additive for their diffs and transmission already in their brand of fluid.
I think those are my major concerns for now. Thank you in advance for any help that might be provided.

    1) The oil filter is the same, Amazon just hasn't updated their parts catalog for the 17, truck is unchanged

    2) I haven't heard of anyone having low differential fluid, I had 2 replaced on my 16 neither were low, more of a hum/noise that's being produced which no one quite knows the cause, some say changing to amsoil/royal purple/etc. has eliminated the noise, use 75-90

    3) Haven't heard any reports of transfer cases being low either, some faulty ones I have seen/heard of.

    4) The transmission fluid has been reported low but haven't heard of any new cases, the dealer can check this for you or you can do it yourself but its a bit more than draining and filling there is a write up though for it

    5) Your dealer can also confirm if you have the TSB update for shifting, Im not sure if any aftermarket software can tell you this, but its again covered under warranty, just ask.

I would avoid mixing fluids as your not sure how they may interact based on different additives, etc.

Agreed. Quit looking for stuff that's wrong and focus on enjoying the truck. :)

Also be sure to read your warranty & maintenance book so you know what to expect. The owners manual is usually a good thing to read too. Both can be downloaded as PDFs from Toyota for ease of use via your phone or tablet.

It can actually be used for anything that alters your perception.
Im not looking for anything just to complain about it. I want to ensure that I get anything fixed before it does any damage. I've always purchased used vehicles (Tacoma is my 17th vehicle) but I decided I wanted something new that I will keep forever.
