I am having a problem with my 03. I replaced a dead battery and now I can't get the radio to work. Checked the pin-outs on the plug with a volt meter. I have 12V on the battery pin and 12V on the ignition pin when the key is turned to the first position. Radio display remains blank when I try to turn it on. I called several dealers to check if there was a code to enter and I got several different answers (which means they don't know). Here's the kicker: I picked up a used one on ebay and it's doing the same thing. What are the chances that 2 radios have the same problem? Pretty slim. Would really appreciate any advice.

Stupid question: What about the fuses? I know you have power from the battery and ignition pin. There might be other supply sources.

I am not sure there might be a reset that needs to be pushed when the battery is disconnected

Is this the Toyota Radio ?/

I printed out the pin-out sheet and there are only two 12V feeds on between the two plugs. The rest are ground and speakers. I checked all the 7.5, 10 and 15 amp fuses anyway, in the truck and under the hood - all good.

This is the original Toyota radio. I don't know of any reset. Do you mean by pushing a combination of keys?

I will have to look many after market radios have them just a very small round hole one pushes with a very small pin punch .

Seems funny that a working radio now does not work. nor does the second one.

It could be quite possible several different radios were an option you were giving the vin to the dealers you talked with .

Then the radio might have been changed from the one from new unless you had this from new.

Just what options were you given to fix the issue ??

I checked with service coordinators at 3 different local dealers. I know they're not really that knowledgeable but all 3 put me on hold to check with someone else. The first one said that there was no code to enter. The second said it was something to do with XM (this radio doesn't have XM). The third told me I would have to bring it in so they could run diagnostics on it ($$).

I did check the ground pin to part of the metal frame in the dash and got continuity.

To me, it has to be something like a reset like Wyoming09 suggested. I actually took it apart to look at the circuit board. There are no interior fuses and no obvious reset switch. I would have thought someone else would have had the same problem being that batteries are replaced all the time.

This happened to me. When I got my truck back from the shop that replaced the heads on it, the radio didn't work. Wouldn't power on. I checked all fuses, wires, etc. Everything fine. Then removed the radio, had power at the plug going to radio. Tested on the ground/mount bolts. Everything fine. Took the radio covers off looking for hidden fuse or reset, etc. Nothing found. Remounted radio, still, no power, doesn't turn on. I just bought a used working radio from another forum member here 2 weeks ago. Haven't had time to install it yet. I'll let you know what happens when I do. My truck is an 03 with the big head radio unit.
