    Hey Everybody,

Does anybody know if Toyota insulated the later 2001 to 2004 first generation Tacomas better than the earlier first genetations? My family has a 1999, and my friend has a 2003, and it seems his is quite a bit quieter than our Tacoma. They are both identical powertrains and transmissions. Performance and handling are exactly the same, but our Tacoma is definitely louder inside than his.

    Take it easy,
    Paul

Check the door seals. You may be getting wind noise.

There is no extra insulation for the newer 01-04 models. The door seals, which are basically a sheet of plastic over each metal opening inside the door and sealed with a gunky black adhesive, is the only thing remotely close to insulation in these trucks.
