maybe this has been answered already but I was reading you had the OME dakars with d29xl add a leaf installed, I will be having around an extra 400lbs (at least) of constant weight in the rear, my question: about how much constant weight to you have and is it worth getting the d29xl or just sticking with the stock dakars.

I had the D29xl AAL on my last truck not on this one. This truck just has the Dakar pack with the shackles flipped.

    Weight i constantly carry....

    -Shell...........................................150lbs
    -rack..............................................80lbs
    -FS spare........................................70lbs
    -platform/drawer/stuff in drawer......80-100lbs
    -Total............................................≈400lbs

    When I travel i add:
    -dog.............................................50lbs
    -gear..............................................100lbs
    -icechest........................................50lbs
    -RTT................................................100lbs

    Grand Total....................................≈700lbs

When I'm loaded for a trip my truck sitts pretty level. I have 2.5" of rake when I'm completely unloaded. Im not a hardcore wheeler, more of an overland traveler so this suits me fine. I dont think the extra leaf is needed but thats just my opinion. Cheers.

P.S. These leafs tend to run flat. Also check out the all pro expedition leafs. I've heard good things about them. Cheers

    Spencer,

Great photos of you and your son. It's a ton of work when they're that small. Many days were about general survival for me. :) Do try and enjoy every minute of it, and take tons of pics. They grow so incredibly fast, and the changes come really fast!

Sharing is caring. A friend of mine is about to take an across the country road trip before he begins his final years of medical school. He was going to do it in a ground tent... I said "nay sir nay!" He came by the house and we dropped this thing on his VW jetta wagon. Hes pretty stoked and the tent looks rad on his car. Safe travels Mr. Thomas Ladder.
