I went with King, just to point out my bias, however a major selling point for me is servicing and overhauling the shocks.

Are they serviceable just like the other top tier brands? If so, which companies are offering the service? Is there a kit to do it myself?

A 3 yr warranty means nothing to me. My Kings have been going strong for at least that long, but when it's time for an overhaul I know I'm covered.

ARB's customer service is the best in the business. I have no doubt they'll stand behind these shocks and will rebuild them if needed.

I think I'm going with BP-51s. Can't find any real complaints, more adjustments, better corrosion resistance and internal bypasses.
    Everyone loves them.

And with the money I save I can get my new upper control arms.

    Good choice.

Also wanted to say that I'm not really biased towards the BP51s just because they're on my Taco. I have a Jeep on Kings and have had Foxs in the past. They're all great, just love the Internal
    bypass on the Taco.

I wound up going with FOX 2.5 DSC.
I really like the BP-51, but the main reason I need good shocks is for the dunes...
    1. the FOX shocks have a bigger piston (king 2.5", fox 2.4", BPs 2") I think the by passes are suppose to make them equal
    2. revalving is common and easy to do
    3. FOXs are more heavy duty
    4. with the steel bodies I can adjust ride height much easier
    5. still have compression adjusters
The biggest part was to have common revalving and rebuilding that anyone can do. If you are going to be running hard you will need to revalve the shocks. My rears were good after 1 revalve my fronts are still a little soft.

I think the BP-51s would be hard to beat for a daily and overland rig. The kings and foxes are geared more for heavy duty use like desert and dunes.

Still waiting custom order to arrive
So with average usage with only a few over landing trips a year, what is the life expectancy of the BP-51s before a rebuild is needed? I'm in the same boat, and the the tipping point for me is the durability and longevity between choosing the BP-51 or Nitrocharger

I over heated my nitrochargers on the dunes in 2 years but they lasted 3 years very bouncy at the end and 1 rear shock was junk.
but normal trail use they should have lasted 3-4 years..
the BP51s hold more fluid so I would think the could go 4-5 maybe 6 years with trail use...
But a 3-4yr rebuild as preventative maintenance would be a good way to go..
BP51s are new but with rebuilding I would think the could last a lot longer than the std shocks and you have much nicer shocks.

If you can afford the better shocks and you off road, go for the better shocks..
But you need to budget you whole build.....

I like to go fast so I should have just got good shocks to start with...

I agree, 5-6 years should be no problem.

    Lots of sail boat fuel
Plus the new bp-51 CO are 3/16" shorter meaning 1/2-3/4" less wheel travel.

I know you’re looking for functionality advice but here’s my stock Pro with a Pro that has the BP51. That’s what I would choose but I can’t justify the cost just for the looks and how much I would actually use it. 44B5C8AA-53E3-4C87-B979-79F3EE674585.jpg

The perspective on that photo makes them look like entirely different trucks, like one would be a Tundra or something

Are those aftermarket UCAs with the BP-51s? I was wondering since they don't come with the kit and there is no mention of them if they are actually recommended for gaining the maximum travel and the appropriate alignment numbers.

I'm really loving my bp-51's so far. ARB has been a top notch company and actually sent me out a replacement coilover and return shipping in 2 days for a minor issue i had with one coilover. I also had another small issue with the rear shock rock deflector coming loose and they sent me a replacement part in 2 days.

as far as use they have performed very well. They've only been on the truck for about 6 months but i've put them through rocky terrain as well as 50mph runs on gravel dirt roads and the truck floats incredibly well over bumps and dips. My truck is a Daily driver, Travel trailer tow vehicle, and adventure off road vehicle for my young family and this kit has suited us well in all uses.
