If done correctly, it will work. Is there no way to get to the back side and use a nut?

I don't think so. Plus itd be a giant pain any time I had to pull the skid plates. Unless you wanna weld some new nuts in place for me lol. I'll have to play with it. I'm gonna call Toyota tomorrow and see if I can get the bolt specs to see if I can just run helicoils. I'm hoping I can put helicoils in with some locktight and be done with it

    google FTW

if anyone needs to know, skid plate bolts are m8x1.25

adding notes for myself tomorrow. A 21/64 drill bit is used for installing a helicoil for that bolt

First thing first sorry for spammin up the thread. Second, I'm beyond a helicoil, the drill bit fits through the hole like a hot dog down a hallway :(. But if I'm looking at all the mounting spots right, it looks like there's nuts that are tacced to the mounting points. So hopefully I can heat em up, remove em, and have someone weld new ones in place

Sound like you have a problem.
I need a picture w/out your plate on of where it mounts. All sides for access to remove nut and weld. I have a 4runner so not familiar of your setup.

I might be a nice guy and help.
I'm driving, so be patient on a reply.

If you have access to a tubing bender 1.25 die, (someone that knows how to use it also)
Could pretty much seal the deal.

Ill get you pics in about an hour and a half. at work ><

EDIT: the local 4wd shop screwed up my order. Trying to solve it on my lunch break. I'll take pics and upload em in about 2 hours. But I don't have access to a tubing bender. Sorry man...

There are two under the lower control mounting bolts

There are three in front behind the front bumper

Well David, sorry haven't gotten back to you soooner. All volt areas look easy to get to and fix 1 way or another

Been busy running around in my mobile home. Getting sent long ways around to destinations all this week.
Hwy90 avalanches w/trees. Out running snow and ice in Idaho. Now 80 shut down coming home.

No worries at all. You owe me nothing and I have no expectations. I'm sorry to hear about the havoc the weather is having on your life. I hope it doesn't negatively affect your livelihood. I'm fitting 285s under the taco tonight :D

Best of luck on the treacherous roads!

    So @Bentrodder and @HAVING FUN
Got my skids remounted. I don't think it will hold an aftermarket 3/16 plate skid, but it will work for now!

And I don't know why but I thought this mod day was in April >< sorry for spamming the thread after the fact. If anyone wants to assist or laugh, take pics, and drink beer while I'm doing it, I have some PIAA lights to install

@FirstTimeFirstGen where you able to get the problem solved or just bolted up with what you had left.

I could probably take a look at what you have and if you have what's needed to fix. I have tools. Just my schedule and would be a weekend.

Yeah, this thread was a December thing. I did a April one last year.

If you want to look at it, by all means. I understand the busy schedule and wouldn't want to tear you from the more important things in life. I think all that would be needed to fix it would be new nuts. I used a propane torch and air hammer at work to bust the old nuts off. Since I have no welding skills, I bought a few j-nuts and mounted it with those. From what I can tell, it's pretty secure. Like I said though, not sure I'd trust those j-nuts with 3/16 plate

Hello David... as long as when the new nuts are in position and I can get my tip of a wire feed welder in there also, shouldn't be a problem. I would up grade to a grade 8 nut for this.
