Now I know why gadget kept saying that anytime in boost you afr should drop. With the urd sc and his computer that's what it does.... now to either go with afr cal or go the hard route with uconn. I also read that you are not able to flash the ecu back to stock simply because Toyota won't give the file to anybody including the dealers so you will probably be assed out even with the mongoose cable and tech stream.

Please correct me if i have the wrong impression; it seems to me many are upset with BD flash because of the performance, in that the AFR should drop sooner, and the systems should flood more gas into the block sooner etc? Have I got that correct?

From what I've been able to gather, it's MAGNUSON that has set the points of shifting, timing on open/closed loop, when the AFR starts to drop etc. BD is just the instrument, Magnuson is the hand.

And I imagine for the SC to be 50 state emission legal (satisfying CARB regulations) is the driving force as to why these kind of performance points are the way they are.

If it's a matter of getting the most performance from this SC, then I understand why most are not happy with the BD/Magnuson Tune, and would look elsewhere for other types of reflashes. If it's a mater of engine health/longevity, then that worries me....that I have the BD flash on my truck.

**Edit I'm no where near as mechanically inclined as many of the people on this forum, so I'm just trying to get an understanding why so many are upset.

Is anyone on the east coast next to MD with the bd installed? You would be doing us all a favor by letting gadget at urd see what the hell is going on.

I want the Mongoose cable regardless of wether or not it helps with the supercharger related stuff. If it comes down to it, I will buy a new ECU and it will have a normally aspirated flash.

Gadget told me another month or so for the UCON that works with later models to be released. UCON is my first choice. If that never materializes, I will go with the MAP ECU 3.

At this point, a significant part of me no longer gives a hoot.

That same part of me is yearning for some douchebag to say with a scrunched up face, "did I just get passed by a Tacoma?!"

Same here, and by significant I mean 99.9%. I just want to get in and drive it. Without the AFR being 14.7 while there's 5psi of boost.

I'm waiting for the UCON, but I did just send him an email to make sure the AFR Sensor Calibrator works for my truck to correct that behavior. If so, I'll probably run that until I can get my hands on a UCON.

    ...too much shit to list.
Good luck with your wait time. Don't get me wrong, Gadget has helped me numourus times and he does amazing work. But I've never seen him hit a time commitment. One month normally means one year.

I called and talked to gadget he said the afr cal would be able to tune the closed loop like we want. I'm torn to do that or just say f it and go with uconn.

most people upset because BD tune go very lean that may wear engine really fast (more temperature for piston and valves) and some peoples truck does not run

This is what has me worried. I have no clue on my ratios until I get my truck on the dyno next week. Ugh...oi vey...

And even if the dyno readings show I'm running above 14.7.....how the hell do I correct that? I can't!! It's all in the tune!

The missing out on potential hp/torque I can live with. The foreshortening of my engine life I can not.

I have another problem i want to install SC by the end of next week, and after that i have to go with a trailer and loaded bed all the way from San ANtonio tx to Chicago... 1200 miles.... and my gauges will be made more than month later...

so my situation compleatly f**ked up....

if my AFR will go lean, i will go to the dealer to make TRD flash, if no... performance shop... or urd AFR

    this SC getting very expencive!!!!

Anyone out there who knows? The question is regarding the AFR under boost.

Gadget said all the trd flashed ones he's seen go in open loop as soon as there's boost. However I've seen dyno charts that say the opposite. If you already did the bd you can't flash the the trd so maybe someone who did the trd flash only will chime in.

I have not BD, no TRD flash either. Only Unichip. And now one spare ECU from ebay for playing. :)

I'm going to look into the afr cal, if that'll do what we need I think that sounds like a doable solution.
I think the UCON is ideal but there's the wait plus the additional expense of a ECU since I have flashed the bd and who knows how compatible a ebay ecu would be...

After reading about everybody's problems I'm not sure I even want a s/c any more. If one would just get the Trd flash instead of the bd program wouldn't that eliminate the problems?
