I use a Curt hitch similar to this one to pull my enclosed car hauler: http://www.etrailer.com/Weight-Distribution/Curt/17300.html

I've pulled from Mississippi to Arizona with it and have never had a problem or felt like I was not in control even in high desert winds. You do have to disconnect the bars when backing up though (not a problem).

Hey everyone! So I've got a question for ya'll....I have a trailer back home in El Paso, Tx that is carrying my two ATV's. I will be towing that back with me to San Antonio (7-8 hr drive) and was wondering if using my truck would be okay towing that....reason being is because I have on my truck a 2" front spacer and stock rear and after having the "leveling spacer" installed, my truck now has a bro lean...the front sits about 1-1/8" higher than the rear.

SO with that said....do ya'll think with the lean and the trailer, the rear would sag pretty bad..? Like tire rub on fender?

    Why?...

But no, it shouldn't rub. That's a relatively small load. You better check on your headlights though. You're probably just lighting up the tree tops now.

You'll be fine. Your rear springs should still be capable of handling the same weight as stock. The bro lean is from the left and right axis caused when the stock springs are swapped for aftermarket ones that don't account for the increased weight on the drivers side. Sounds like your still on stock springs and it's just raked like a trophy truck.

Why what? Right now my headlights still shine on the road, haven't been flashed yet. I'm sure with the trailer it'd make my headlights shine to the sky lol

That's good to know. Yea I still have stock suspension just added a spacer on the strut so front is higher than rear like trophy truck. It's hard to see the lean from the sides unless you take a good look at it then you can see it. I will be getting a lift in the coming weeks so I won't have to worry too much about it.

Went to the RV expo today and saw a simple little unit that I liked in concept. It is a MAX Flyer by inTechRV(www.intechrv.com/max.php). Basically just a 5x10 single-axle cargo trailer (all aluminum) that has been reworked for minimalist camping (4-foot ceilings). Anyway I'm curious if anyone has experience with a lower profile and lower weight unit like this (2200 GVWR). The weight is low and the aero should be okay (similar to a teardrop except more drag from boxed rear end). I'd like to think I could get 15-mpg at 65-mph with something this small; am I just dreaming?

That is a pretty neat camper, minimalist but it would still be comfortable. It looks very well thought out. I'm not sure about 15 mpg at 65 but it shouldn't be too bad with the weight at 1500 lbs. Of course it depends also as to how much other stuff you bring.

Yes the trailer weight isn't bad really. I like the all-aluminum construction (looked robust) and the fact that you can use it a 5x8 cargo trailer too. It would fit in the garage as well (a plus given my HOA). I'm just wondering if I'd really be comfortable running it on a 2500-mile trip each year.

For what its worth I don't think your dreaming. With that little amount of weight you should be able to get at least that mileage. As for if your going to be comfortable in this unit that's all up to you. If you can live without a shower/bathroom and get a good mattress I think you could be snug as a bug!

Maybe this information will help someone else here who is thinking about installing na upgraded rear suspension modification to help with towing. In my case I hope to be soon be pulling a lighter weight RV trailer. So after seeking other forum member advice and my own research I opted to go with the SumoSprings instead of rear airbags. I called SuperSprings and talk with the tech support and it was there recommendation that I go with the middle weight springs. The part number and weight load for the SumoSprings for the third generation trucks is the following.

    SSR-610-40 for 1000Lbs.
    SSR-610-47 for 1500Lbs.
    SSR-610-54 for 2800Lbs.

I hope this helps out anyone who is considering installing the SumoSprings rear upgrade.

Okay finally got the SumoSprings, installation went fairly smooth though anytime you unbolt your rear axle from the springs it kind of makes you go hmmm... Must tools are 3/4 deep well (long) or 16mm. socket but also a good stout torque wrench since you'll be torquing the nuts on the axle ubolts to 90 ft. lbs. in stages and a hydraulic scissor or bottle lift. Helpful tools to have on hand are a ratchet wrench and a breaker bar. All I had to do to install was to jacket up the truck on its frame a bit before the rear wheel one side at a time, unbolt the ubolts, slip out factory rear stops, then slip in SumoSpring and finish by bolt it all back together. No big deal! Hope this helps anyone else who is considering using SumoSprings to help with their towing.

Well its official i towed my boat with the new Taco. The trailers setup up so theres only 200 pounds of tongue weight. Total weight of my Formula F3 LS is 4,880 wet. Towed like a dream with ect and also with "s" mode. Im only around town to a couple different boat launches so this setup is perfect for me.

What would your rpm be @ 60 mph? What gear did you allow it to go to?

Between 3rd and 4th between the hills and what not. I think i only made it to about 50 mph. 60 in town would get me in trouble boss. Rpms were steady going up small hills. Didnt seem like it struggled at all.

After adding 1300 miles to my new '17, I started hauling our Rpod 180. It weighs in at 2950 lbs as built with an 850 CCC. Hauled it about 450 miles in two days over three mountain passes in MT and the Tacoma did really well. Based on what I've read here, I used the ECT with the AT in S mode. Flat ground/windless speeds are easily 70+ with the RPMs ~ 3200 in 4th. I had no issues when dropping it into 5th for the downhill sides of the passes and when climbing the passes I dropped into 3rd and maintained 60 with no problem. I don't have a sway bar or LLH but so far I'm happy with the way it tows. Just my $.02 worth

Nice pod. Do you have any helper springs in the rear?
