So I've looked and read through everything in regards to bed side removal and most of the stuff I found was for 2nd gens.

I kind of love tapped a tree on my passenger side and I figured I should be able to pick up a bed side for it. I would really hate to replace the whole bed so I'm hoping the side comes off pretty easily.

Some of the threads said that the 2nd gen bed side comes off with 5 or 6 bolts, is that true for the 1st gen? If anyone has pictures, that would be awesome.

Dont know what it takes but there is absolutely no similarities between 1st and.2nd gen as far as the bed goes, thats a whole different animal. The bottom of the 2nd gen bed is all plastic as is the inner bed side. So with the 1st gen obviously being all metal itd be safe to say your truck will be much more involved than a 2nd gen. Yours certainly wont involve unbolting it lol. You'll be messin around trying to undo spot welds im sure...cant say for sure but id bet strong odds that a whole bed swap would be less time and effort, could possibly be somewhat close price wise too. Ive never priced individual panels however, i could be way off on the price thing never even seen one...

Bedsides are welded on for first gens. It is possible to drill through all the welds but time consuming and i dont think youl even be able to buy a factory bed side
