How does the range compare to the handhelds with the Nagoya antenna? Debating going with this one or a detachable face Yaesu. Or getting this one and putting it in the center console.

    http://www.hamradio.com/detail.cfm?pid=H0-014764

The 25 watt unit would probably fit in the coin holder thing on the left side with some modifications. Or just add a Ram ball to the bracket and mount it to the Techdeck. It's so tiny...

Big price differences between those 3 options.

Haha that's why I hate cleaning things. Because if I actually start, I get all ocd and have to go big. I planned on doing the engine too, but chased out by rain. I may not be the thickest encyclopedia on the shelf, but I know not to ask a 8 month pregnant lady to move her car from carport when it's raining :crapstorm:

My Aunt's old cabin in Truckee looked exactly the same. Had an awesome slope right behind the house...except you had to catch the rope fence quick or fall off the 5' drop to her backyard (before she finally just built a slope down the wall)

Meh, power washer with some simple green in the soap dispenser will clean that up in about 5 minutes. I do that every couple of months to keep the dirt from building up to much and staining shit.

Longer range than the handheld setup. Small, but not coin holder small. Fits well in the bin ahead of the cupholders. Here is a crappy picture.

Thanks for the pic and measurements! Coin behind cup holder has an @Iggy switch panel that's staying put. I do have a switch blank with a coax cable jack in the panel for my CB. I may go semi- mobile like you did and just mount the Baofeng to the Techdeck. Add a cigarette lighter power adapter and I'll be set. Switch out the Firestick for a HAM antenna.

Nice. Consider modding the lighter power to be on with the ignition off. Handy for the radio in certain circumstances, and avoids the annoying power up chirp. Or pull another wire through the firewall and use these little Anderson connectors.

Does that board say "Scallywag"? This whole pirate thing is getting out of control...;)

Good idea on the Anderson plugs and constant power. Not sure if this would fit in the stock location with that flange.

I'm planning on putting mine on a switch in the dash, so I can turn it on/off as needed when the truck is on or off

That would be cool if you can make it fit. These are all constant power - Garmin, Lowrance, phone and radio. I call them flying leads. Others call this mess a manifestation of commitment issues.

It does! That's Ieva's. It just happened to be the brand she wanted in the size she needed, it must have been meant to be.
