Toytec has 2 diffrent types of axle shims, both the same price. One is slotted, and the other is solid. The big diffrence is the centering pin protruds out of the bottom of the solid shim, while the head is recessed (for the most part) in the slotted (the thickness of the slot equals the thinckness of the center pin head). My first thought was that the head of the centering pin should rest in the spring seat. I have been running slotted for years and I have never had a problem. What does TW have to say about this?!
