Not sure I agree with this. I am EXTREMELY happy with the OEM Audio+ system when used with streaming from Apple Music. I haven't yet tried a CD with its full fidelity, but am anxious to now that you mentioned it, however to say one would be unhappy with compressed formats in this set up I think is an complete overstatement. I mean its a fact that compressed music will sounds worse on any system, not only on some and not onothers. I'm 100% satisfied and the system has exceeded my expectations having only listened to compressed music on it thus far.

Apple Music uses a lossless format so it exceptionally close to full fidelity. I was referring to the iheart, slacker radio type streaming sites that come in the HU. Spotify and SoundCloud will be better. Apple Music will be one of the best. My reference to these is because of the compression that is used the OEM+ I can hear frequencys that are shaved

Satellite radio has garbage audio quality, nothing you can do about that.

If you're streaming or playing back properly encoded high-res music (e.g. from Apple or Google Music set to High quality, etc.) you won't be hearing artifacts or issues from that, especially in a moving vehicle. The difference from that and CD audio is negligible at best. Amp, good speakers and calibration will definitely be worth it.

I played using the usb cable to my iPhone and wasn't impressed. I converted and of my songs to the highest quality MP3, put it on a stick. The songs are much better off the stick. For me anyway.

I installed mine this weekend - I found it used for $999 which I thought was a more accurate price at the time.

Now that it is in, I think that the $1499 price is very justifiable!! The sound is very crisp, and the bass is more than enough for me.

I listened to the song "Doin it Right" by Daft Punk (Random Access Memories album" and holy hell does it sound amazing. Do yourself a favor and give it a listen if you have this system!

One complaint I have is that I can't really turn it above 15 volume without it being too loud. (Roughly equivalent to 40 prior). I just wish that it was more in line with the stock volume level. Basically now I have 15 (20 max) options for loudness as opposed to double before. Not a huge deal by any means, just the only thing I would change.

What songs really show this system off in your eyes? I'd like to have a couple songs up my sleeve to let people listen to :).

One thing - I used a similar product to dynamat to put behind each door speaker. I Only used one sheet total and had ordered like 10 lol. If anyone wants any let me know I'll let it go super cheap! (I paid like $150, so $15 per sheet). I'd probably sell it for $10 per sheet.

Also - like others have said the video is literally priceless. I probably pause and rewound it hundreds of time and just went step by step. They do make it seem easier than it actually is. Nothing is actually difficult in a technical standpoint but kind of tough getting the panels on and off etc

    Sade. Sade

Pink Floyd Wish you were here

    Miles Davis. Kind of Blue

These are my go to 3 discs or LP's depending on which system I'm listening to

Search for audiofile reference recordings and you can find long lists covering many genres

My home system which I compare everything to is:

    Sunfire TGR-3
    Monitor Audio 10" Silver series
    Velodyne reference 15" sub
    Sorta Turntable
    Arcam CD-73

As I get more and more hours on the OEM+ system and the speakers breaking in. I'm exceptionally happier by the day

Not that it's my type of music, but MJ's Dirty Diana sounds incredible from the IPod on my OEM system.

I plan on getting this system soon. I have always installed high end systems in my vehicles. For both spl and sql. While I can't compare it to the system in my Ford Ranger for spl, I will compare it for quality. I'm also done with spending tones of time and money. I'm hoping this system is all I've read it to be

I talked to him today, and we had a great discussion. Don't get me wrong, I wasn't insinuating there was anything wrong with the system. I love it. However, now that they opened up the passenger side in the 3rd gen and removed the shelf, there's more readily available space without heavy modification to add more subs. Maybe one or two more 8"s. If there's enough interest they are open to doing the research to offer more alternatives. Your feedback is valuable and I appreciate it.

Daniel is great to talk to and definitely is receptive to the customer feedback. I'm not an audiophile, but used to do a lot of my own installs, and I learned a lot just talking to him.

I would say it is all bout your goals. If you want to have a ton of bass, this probably isn't the (currently) system for you - I would suggest DIY at that point.

I bet they could make a separate harness that clips into the current one either right at the amp or at the sub input that splits off to add a second sub. You would be limited by the current power output of the amp though. Adding a second sub if only going to net you an additional 3db of headroom iirc.

I would not be willing to pay the extra $500+ they would charge to add the second sub as I am 100% fine with the current one - that is just my opinion and I am sure plenty disagree with that.

I hope they continue to look into it though! They will likely be making this gen for another 5+ years so it would likely be profitable for them.

I'm a big fan of this system as well... I think one of the things that would be a huge help is sound dampening. That is my next step - disassemble and install some dynamat, or equivalent.

    I've got a bunch I need to sell ^

Shoot me a pm if you want any - I'll sell it cheaper than I paid (and was told I got a good deal as it was a group buy on this forum!)

I installed mine when I installed the system in the first place and it's awesome - super easy actually.

I know this may be a long shot, but is there anyone in the Orlando, FL. area that has this system installed and would be willing to let me take a look and hear it...I really want to hear it before making the purchase. Thanks

You did the outer door skin inside the door or just the part behind the 6x9? I've always only did the interior door skin so am curious

I've done the driver side door so far, will do the rest tomorrow, however, I can say that I could already tell the difference. Really looking forward to hearing it when I'm done, especially the back wall. Hopefully it'll reduce the rattle back there that is audible outside the truck. Gonna put some on my tailgate too to quiet that pop-lock. It's awesome, but really loud...lol

Nah, it's audible like a trunk outside the truck
