Absolutely, wonder if Kylo will then have a protege

 

Who said the last one would be a new one though?

 

Or if one of those 3 take on a student, but said student is killed..I know, bit of a reach..

 

I think Luke had a better chance of getting killed in episode 8 before Carrie Fisher died. She was and may still be in episode 9 with scenes already filmed. Now that she's gone though, I can see Luke playing a more integral role and surviving at least until episode 9. He is still technically the "Last Jedi" until Rey or someone else is trained.

The title could be a trick though, as you are not a Jedi until you complete your training, so Luke would still be the only Jedi even if he trains someone.

 

I think they did it because Luke is technically the "last Jedi" and I heard this one will focus on Rey and Luke's relationship. So throughout the movie Luke is the "last Jedi" up until the end with Rey becoming a Jedi

 

dont forget he shaved and said "im done after 8."

 

If that's the case, he dies at the end and Rey now becomes the last Jedi

Took me a little bit to realize what was bugging me about this, its the red lettering. Seems ominous.

 

The second movie of the trilogies is the dark one. This Empire Strikes Back, part 2.

 

I think you're onto something; lettering has always been yellow. Now its Red. Interesting with a generic "The Last Jedi" title.

Some wonder if its Luke (too easy). Some wonder if its Rey (again, too easy). And we are seeing this Red lettering for the first time. Hmmm.. what about Kylo and his internal struggle between light and dark?

Threads going around talking through how Kylo may actually be this last jedi. A spoiler possibly here for some: there is confirmation that B. Del Toro will play a true Sith Lord, the right hand of Snoke, a character we have yet to see. If Kylo somehow kills this Sith Lord (perhaps saving Rey), would this send Kylo back to the light side for a final showdown with Rey and Kylo both taking on Snoke and the First Order? In TFA, we see Kylo saving Rey by killing one of his own men (in Rey's vision sequence). Remember how Yoda stated to Luke, despite all his training on Dagobah, that he would only become a Jedi when he faces Darth Vader. Are you only truly a Jedi once the light (jedi) faces the dark (sith).

Kylo is not a Sith. Yet. His journey is the more interesting one to me. Will he become a Jedi at the end of 8 to make a very interesting ep 9. Would make for a surprise for sure.

I dunno, cool to think through but somehow I don't think its as simple as "the title means Luke is the last one" or "clearly its Rey" I'd be disappointed if so. The original trilogy had a few twists and turns for the audience and I am hoping for a couple here too.

 

I agree that if the title is just Luke or Rey would be disappointing. Just like to find out Rey is related to Luke would be such a downer. Like it makes too much sense and would be extremely lame and cop-outish

 

I think- we'll find out when when IX drops . I bet VIII is gonna be a whole bunch of bullshit right at the end too that leaves everyone hanging.

 

ComicBook.com compared the three and noticed many deaths in each one with the red outline.



i wouldnt be surprised if they're doing it to simply tip everyone off.
