Sorry folks if this is an absolute stupid question. I don't know much about this. Please be kind if it is dumb...

I just bought a 2009 Tacoma yesterday and just today noticed that when I shift from P>R>N>D, the transmission slips a bit on take-off (>5mph). After discovering it, I have read about this issue online and now question my purchase... Blah! There was a lot of discussion out there about Toyota "eventually" providing a computer update, but I was not able to find any conclusion to this.

I am wondering if a performance chip would potentially fix this issue?

If its slipping because of wear, then more power will make it worse

They slip naturally from the factory for a smoother ride as well.

A good permanent fix is a valve body overhaul also known as a "shift kit"

All a performance chip would do (I assume) is raise the line pressure in the tranny, (firming up the shifts, which reduces slippage) which is what that reprogramming on the ECU would do.

So in theory getting a performance chip that influenced the trans shift points, would fix your slippage, however if its slipping due to wear than you're outta luck (and maybe a few hundred buck for a rebuild lol) But hey what do I know, I drive a first gen ;)
