    My rear drive shaft u-joints need to be replaced and I'm looking for recommendations on which ones to go with. Should I go back with OEM or upgraded aftermarket u-joint? I use 4WD a good bit but, nothing extreme mostly hunting. I just want some good quality ones.

    I'm not sure what P/N the OEM are but, I think they are spicer.

    I paid $90 for OEM Toyota Spicer life with zerk for 4x4, come to find out a Scicer life series 1330 with zerk is the same size and can be bought on Amazon for $26. Make sure you get one with the round center just like your original.

    That is it! I would suggest a brick and mortar store like Napa if you're concerned, plus warranty is easier. Napa up here carries the Spicers.

    Does it matter that the zerk is on the end cap? The ones I have now are angled in the center of the joint.

    My original rear driveshaft has zerks on the end caps, but my front driveshaft has zerks in the center( I'm talking about the driveshaft for the front axle not the front of the rear driveshaft).

    I wonder if my rear driveshaft has been replaced. I'm getting a grinding sound from the driveline only when I let off the gas in 4th or 5th gear. The slip yoke does have a small amount of play in it but, so do the u-joints so I thought I would change them first.

    I don't have many posts on TW, but I have had the same issue your describing. Read through my posts about this issue for tips to get rid of it. I eventually did, but it's back because I lifted my truck more in the rear recently with dakars. The new lift stretched my rear driveshaft an additional 1/2 inch. This is unique to regular cabs, good luck.

    Driveshaft spacer, flip driveshaft 180, mark and pull driveshaft apart at splines and grease splines with moly lube.
