Exactly what i said, i was even nice enough to put my stock headlight bulbs in. Guess ill be busy this weekend removing lightbars & brackets etc.

I asked if they wanted me to remove the toneau and bed extender to diagnose the radio also.

    Here she is now,
    No 50" lightbar on roof
    No bar in bumper
    No hood pods
    No hid lowbeam
    No led highbeam
    No led fog kit

Its depressing looking at her all degraded... she must feel raped!

That's absolutely ridiculous. Like @gpb said, ask them to explain how a disconnected light bar would affect anything. After hearing their bullshit response, ask them if they would still work on the truck if there was another truck w/ a lightbar parked next to it. If they say yes, then ask them how they determine whether a situation is acceptable to be worked-on. If they say no, ask them to explain how a different vehicle can affect your radio, and how you should "control" that in the real world driving. Easy to trip up the fools. And make sure you record this conversation on your phone.

Disconnecting aftermarket electrical components is perfectly reasonable. That's the first step of any electrical-problem diagnosis. Physically removing a disconnected part is not. I suspect they simply don't want to deal with you and are making shit up in hopes you won't want to bother to do it and will go away.

What dealership did you go to?

I'm perfectly pleased with sound from the JBL setup. Different folks have different expectations I guess. I'm not interested in rattling windows and early onset hearing loss. Those who want that would likely be disappointed.

The XM tuning sucks though. Maybe I'm missing something but the user-interface to tune up/down the "dial" is awful.

"Different folk" isn't in toyotas demographic market. It's a toyota pickup, not a custom luxury yacht, they don't need to cater to an individual need bases.
As for xm, I hardy used it, couldn't wait for it to go away(and for them to stop calling)
I use it to Bluetooth stream pandora, and it's been perfect

I used to work at Autotemp in Calgary. So many times the dealerships would blame the most random stuff on any aftermarket electrical components that's installed, Even if it's has absolutely nothing to do with it. It's because electrical diagnosis pays nothing for how long it actually takes. Never hurts to take it for another opinion to a different shop as well, I know the head installer and manager at Autotemp south (off 42nd and Blackfoot) are great guys and the head installer there is a wizard at electrical diagnosis if you want to have them look at it let me know.

I think as a stereo system the entune system is perfectly fine. I can automatically stream music and podcasts from my phone to the system with little effort.

The Bluetooth calling works great, but the messaging situation leaves much to be desired.

However, the kicker is navigation. The crappiest android phone has access to google maps or waze, both of which completely blow the entune system out of the water.

Being able to put an iPad in-dash solves all of the issues for me. Music, podcasts, messages, etc etc, and the beauty of a solid navigation platform on a big in-dash screen is priceless to me.

My big hangup is making sure swapping out the deck doesn't screw up the steering wheel display unit.

I'll be getting around to this modification rather soon, I'll keep y'all posted.

Alright guys heres a bit of an update with my headunit issues.

Stopped at the dealership this afternoon upon the techs request! And found that he had placed my headunit in a new 17 taco off the showroom floor and the new unit in my truck. We took both trucks for a joyride to settle some vibe issues i was having etc. My "remanufactured" radio reboot multiple times in the new taco where as the new headunit in my taco did not. Backstory i have had my headunit replaced 3x and all had the same issue. But all were remanufactured. So clearly toyota has an issue with the refurbishing process. Just a heads up to all you that may get a replacement in the future this may be an issue.

So now we are twiddling our thumbs waiting for corporate to approve a non refurbished headunit.
    Sorry for the long read.

Appreciate the followup and the alert on refurbished headunits. Glad the were able to identify / isolate your issue, I'm sure it's been very frustrating.
