Right now I have the trail team FJ wheels with ST Maxx 255/85/16. I'm debating going with a rear tire carrier, and with that, possible switching wheels and moving to 285's. I originally had the same debate between these two wheels, but ultimately went with the anthracite FJ rims as I thought it was a more low-key look. After seeing MGM's in person with black wheels though, I feel it's hard to beat. The only part I don't like about the Method's are the chrome bolts.

    What should I do? :D

    How it sits:

Method NV's: Would likely go with ST Maxx again.

I have NV's. Love them. However, they get chewed up easily on trails and rocks...

That is some considerable wear. How long have you been running them?

All that happened in a single week in Moab, UT. They were pristine before that.

Kyitty, you have a pelfrey standard rear. Do you have a 255 spare stuffed up underneath? That's the sole deciding factor between a carryout and a standard rear for me - I haven't been able to find any info if the 255 still fits up underneath, with and without a hitch.

Edit: Nevermind! I see you have it in your bed.

I only did the standard bumper because the tire carrier version won't fit in my garage. :( As I understand a 255/85 can fit under the bed if we break off the tabs that held the factory tire in place. But I haven't tried. Mainly because I don't want to. But also because I'd like to keep my spare out of harm's way while off road. Though I'd love to get the bed space back.

I was able to fit my spare underneath without breaking the tabs by just bending them a bit with a mallet. I wasn't sure if the fitment of the aftermarket bumper might change the available space underneath though, or if the hitch receptacle being at the same plane as the tire might make contact with the tire. (You have an awesome build BTW ;)) You probably remember but you were the primary reason I went with 255's based on my last "tacomaworld decides" thread

Just the Old Man Emu nitrocharger kit with 887's and total choas upper control arms :) The shop didn't install the trim packer that comes with the kit for whatever reason, so the passenger side sits a bit more level.

I'm not a fan of the chrome nuts or whatever they are around the perimeter.

Me neither, I wish they had the option to paint them like some other manufacturers do.

I think that rim would look very good without the chrome (I hate chrome). It could be painted over, but I don't feel.like spending more $ after buying expensive rims.
