My apologies, I am sure this thread is already out there but for some reason my "search" feature does not work. Could someone please help me find the "lift" advise thread?

Curious about important info 'need to know' prior to lifting 3rd gens. (2017 to be exact), and at what point of lift do you need to replace stock shocks, etc.

    Pros/Cons spacers vs coil...etc.

Anyway, thanks in advance for the link to what I am sure is already a thread! Hopefully my search tab will work in the future!

I saw the "toytec" thread but was hoping for a more informative, unbiased post? I didn't read the whole thread yet, but it appeared to be advertising their lifts? I am new to the Tacoma world so I don't know much about the lift brands here - coming from a Jeep JK to a 2017 Tacoma. I'll read that thread though!

If I recall the toytec post was more about trying to fit 2nd gen lifts on 3rd gen trucks when the 3rd gen just came out and there were no 3rd gen specific lifts out yet.

    Try this.

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/forums/suspension.18/

    Common lifts include

    OME
    KING
    ICON
    TOYTEC
    etc
    etc

Suspensions can go pretty deep but I always recommend a full suspension lift, no spacers. You dont have to get hardcore remote res shocks and everything unless thats what you need.

    Some quick tips.

I recommend a 3" lift or less, going to 3" or over will require a dif drop kit.
The driver side needle bearing is super weak and sometimes fails due to lifts, East Coast Gear Supply provides a new clamshell bearing that will fix vibrations caused by the lift. Its pretty cheap and easy to install.
Be careful on tire sizes with your rim selection, some people need to trim and cut the inside of the fender due to rubbing, verify the backspace and offset of new rims. If you intend to use stock rims you will likely need some trimming depending on tire sizing.
Some people replace the upper control arms to make alignments and such easier.

Thanks, I don't want to go to big, so will most likely stay under 3" for sure. I don't want to have to regear or change anything there. I just want slightly larger tires etc... feels small right now coming from a 4" lifted jeep on 35s.

if I was to lift today I would keep it very mild maybe around 2 inches and I'd go at 6112s up front and 5160s in the rear with wheelers three leaf Progressive add a leaf. ~1500 in parts or less. Excellent feedback from forum members running this combo.

Whats the main purpose for lifting? Aesthetics, overlanding, rock crawling, desert running?

Aesthetics and overlanding - mostly farm land/hunting purposes.
