Anyone have any input on RMS vs CEA-2006 Ratings? As far as getting actual power levels. I'm leaning the way of CEA and going with the 4 Channel 2400W, giving me 4x100 channels for fronts and potential sub. Other option would be to just go 5 channel: 4x50 and 1x350 (CEA) and 4x100 and 1x700 (RMS) I would bridge the 5 channel for 2x100 and 1x350 for the sub. I can obviously dial them back if the wattage is closer to RMS than CEA. Would rather have the extra room instead of being under-powered. But again, I have a feeling if I do add a sub in the future it'll just be a self powered unit so the 5 channel appears to not be necessary. Guess I'm settled on the 4 channel then:D. Sometimes typing out helps answer the questions. Thanks for letting me ramble...

CEA is a standard to confirm RMS ratings as well as S/N ratio. They really aren't in a position to be compared to one another. RMS means Root Mean Square and is a method of determining maximum sustainable power (Max power means NOTHING...ignore it). Buy an amp from a reputable manufacturer (Rockville is not one of those vendors) and simply follow RMS ratings. I like your idea of a 4X100...or something in that neighborhood.

Thanks. That's what I was looking for. I was reading up on CEA-2006 stuff earlier and was trying to piece it together. I had seen some decent reviews on the Rockville which is why I was looking that way, but I found a pioneer in the same wattage range for not much more that I'm eyeing now. I don't want to have to worry about it once installed.

You should be good with Pioneer. While many folks overlook their amps, they tend to forget that the very same company makes brilliant head units like the P99 and 80PRS - which are found in more SQ-oriented installs than any other brand.

I hear you on the head units. I was just looking at a lot and narrowed down by the features I wanted and then in the end, looked at price to find which one I'd like. I'm sure until I pull the trigger and order it I will keep looking and come across something else though:D

Hey how was the install on those Focals? I read the tweeters might be an issue...

I am thinking of getting a similar set up

I am not sure as the shop installed everything. I'm pretty sure it wasn't simple. I will pull off my doors this summer to check it out. I got them installed this winter so I didn't want to do it myself. Not cheap, but now it's professionally done.
    Sorry I'm no help.

Thats ok...I'm sure the pro install was worth it. What amp are you powering your Focals with?
