I've noticed some trucks have new frames. Was this a recall? How do you know if your truck needs a new frame?
Sorry if this is an elementary question.

Your truck would still be eligible. Basically, you have to get your truck inspected at the dealer for frame perforation, and if it fails they will get you in the process for a new one.

I believe one of the requirements to qualify is that you had to have your frame coated.

Yes there was a recall. Contact your local dealer to see if your truck is included

Thanks smmarine and mechanicjohn. I checked my VIN on the Toyota recall site and only the spare tire carrier came up. So, if there is too much rust, is it my problem?

    Jim -
Your in Jersey so I would definitely look into it.
Call toyo corp with your vin they will tell you for sure.
I had 1 dealer lie to me about recall on my 2000 Taco.
Had a 98 frame rusted out about 2 years ago on next owner
2000 Taco toyo bought it back from me
05 Taco toyo did frame replacement
    Now driving a 2014
    Great trucks except the frames
