I am a metal fabricator/ welder for a chemical company. I build and repair pressure vessels to support their processes. I have 29 welding certifications using multiple welding processes. I recently did a cab mount chop for a friend on his Tacoma. I had never even herd of it until he explained what he needed done. Because I have all of my own metal fab equipment in my garage, I'm always looking for side work to pay for it. I saw that another member was offering the cmc plates for around $20ea. I figure that offering the entire service for $50 is a good deal. I will provide all the materials and it will take around an hour to do the job. I own a Tacoma with a toytec/ome 3" lift, total chaos uppers but I chose to go with the pizza cutter look (255/75r17 tires) and a CMC is not needed. If you are running wide tires and need the rubbing to stop, message me on here and we can coordinate a time to get it fixed. I live in NE Tennessee 37664.
    Thanks,
    Joe Randall

Here are some pictures of the CMC that I did on my friends truck. I plasma cut the plates out of 1/8" diamond plate steel then tig welded them in place. On your truck I can use regular 1/8" sheet metal or diamond plate, what ever you want. Please note that the truck already had tar thrown into the fender well, I'm not that bad at spray painting! The pipe picture is of a stainless pipe that I welded, just to prove that I can weld.cmc1.jpg cmc2.jpg pipeweld2.jpg pipeweld.jpg

Worth $50, I would recomend you use plain plates so it blends better and more factory. The diamond plate stands out and imho it is an area where that has no benefit.

I don't care if you use diamond plate on mine. I'd do it tomorrow.

Both sides for 50 or each side? I think most of the precut for sale cmc's out there are using 3/16" vs 1/8". I work with a metal fabricator and he did mine for me but he charges me more that you charge. Btw beautiful welds!!!

$50 is a steal! I was quoted $300 by a local shop, and I had the plates! I was feeling lazy and just wanted someone else to do it. I turned around and did it myself.

The CMC plates I bought are 11 gauge (.1196"), same thickness as the original mount material.

Hey guys, Joe did an awesome job on my truck. I asked him to go with the diamond plate just because I prefer the look. Welds were flawless and it gave me the perfect amount of clearance given I run 33X12.5 tires.

He's a good dude and you absolutely can't beat $50. I don't have the expertise or the equipment to do these types of jobs and he's got both. If you all have any more questions or need any more pictures of the CMC just let me or him know.

I just saw the poll at the beginning, LOL. Anyone who thinks that $50 is "fair" has obviously never done any fab work, or paid for it either. $100 would be "fair". $50 is a gift!

I'd pay $100 tomorrow. I'm stoked there are good people out there hooking it up for other good people.

I've been quoted $150 and $200 - time to raise the rate  I'm surprised it's not that cheap out here where everyone and his brother works on Toyotas.

It's all about hooking up other members with the expectations that they will do the same for me one day. This forum has helped me out with several things front diff bearing fix, drive shaft angles after lift and tire size.

I've got a welder plus spare steel in the garage and don't even need a CMC, but I'd gladly pay $50 for it.

At the same time you shouldn't sell yourself short. Your time and skill are worth something, especially if you are including the plates as well.
