Just bought a Kenwood DDX9903s double din HU, waiting for the dash kit to arrive but do I need an adapter to use apple car play with it? Also ideas on where to install the cable instead of the glove box. Will upload pics once installed.

You do NOT need any other cables than your USB to lightening cable. The unit will come with an USB extension that comes off the back foe it to plug into. Some people will integrate their factory USB if they have to work with this. I simple and PAC audio (I'm sure off brands too) make a flushmount usb do you don't have loose cables everywhere. If you want to truly mirror the phone you will need another USB to lightening, hdmi and a an apple digital av adaptor

That is the digital av adtr that I mentioned you needed. That is NOT needed for apple CarPlay though. Straight. USB to lightening will get you Apple maps (CarPlay maps) if you want google maps or waze then yes
