That would be because that's exactly what happened.

Well that's different.

The cab mounted roof racks are mounted at the stronger part of the cab, in the drip rails, or strongest part of the cab which is on the door jamb like the Yakima type racks clamp to. This was a shit ton of snow falling from 20-30 ft and landing squarely in the middle of an unsupported (largely) piece of 20 gauge sheet metal that is 5x7 or so.

 

The snow fell from the top of the trees and landed on his truck. Not from just sitting on it.

Out of curiosity, what would you use an axe for whilst offroading? I can see chopping a tree in the trail, but can't off the top of my head think of anything else recovery wise that a shovel wouldn't do better?

Anybody with a double cab able to confirm or deny that these dimples in the door jamb are supposed to be there?

Open both doors (driver front, driver rear) and run your finger in the first edge of the jamb. I have a 4-5 inch long bubble on both sides of the B pillar along the roof section of the jamb, maybe 10-12 inches from the B pillar.

Driver front door bubble pictured. Notice the shape of the shadow in the center of the pic. I can't think of why this would exist from the factory, but I have it on both sides of my truck, and in both front and rear doors, and roughly in the same locations.

I know my roof is fucked, but trying to see if these bubbles are related to it.
