Can you guys help a brother out deciding on which setup to go with.

Fox level 2 - 2.5 front coilovers and 2.0 reservoir rears with HS AAL
    or
Icon stage 1 - 2.5 front coilovers and 2.0 non reservoir rears with HS AAL

Both kits are similar in price. My ideal lift height is 2.5" max because I'm not going with UCA's. I do intermediate trails and dunes nothing too advance or technical I just need more clearance. Any feedback is appreciated.

FOX worked in conjunction with Toyota to produce the Suspension for the 3rd Gen TRD-PRO. Thus, FOX is committed to the 3rd Gen Tacoma Platform at the factory level, Spec's and Valves suspension kits designed specifically for the Tacoma and will have a large knowledge base of the Toyota Tacoma application across their entire product range. FOX is Toyota Corp's itselfs #1 choice for high-end 3rd gen suspensions.

    Dunno if that helps?

#1 choice or low bidder to provide mass produced name brand shocks and springs? My guess is the latter

A big technical difference is that Fox shocks are progressive and Icon shocks are digressive. In progressive shocks, the damping coefficient increases as shaft speed increases, meaning you get a softer ride at low speeds and a harder ride at higher speeds, theoretically. In digressive shocks, its the opposite.

Toyota's not the military, they're a corporation and they sell a product. When you sell something, name recognition is everything. FOX is a top 3 off-road racing suspension producer. The Internal bypass TRD-PRO FOX shocks are equivalent to Stage 4 (minus remote-resi) after market kits. Bilstein 6112/5160 kits on the previous gen TRD-PRO's were every bit as good. So no, you didnt pay for "lowest bidder" shocks on TRD-PRO model anything. You got top of the line, industry rivaling parts that were completely supported and backed by Toyota at the factory level. Warranty, service , all of it. Its a better deal than aftermarket. This is how you sell something. You provide honest quality that the consumer recognizes, with little "convincing".

FYI a 2.5" lift is only a net 1.5" lift for 3rd gens. If youre going to spend all that money set to 3" lift. Go with uca the first time around so you don't wheel with an itch for more.

I have fox 2.5 resi and all-pro uca and love the set up. If I had to do it again I would get extended travel icons 3.5" lift. Really only 3" lift with an extra 1/2" drop. Then icon uca because they have caps over the Uni ball to keep dirty out. The rears I have fox 2.0 Resi for 3-5" for just flexing.

I have the Fox level 2 kit. Getting installed next week. Off the truck, everything looks high quality, which is to be expected for the price you pay.

Pics? I have been wanting to replicate the TRD PRO suspension on my truck for a non-aggressive ~1.5" lift, but don't know what parts I would need. Your description reads close.

Curious as to details on why. Not looking to bash. Just more info for self assessment of needs and uses of my own rig.

Looks like I'll be going with Fox, I was leaning a little towards Fox from the start. Thanks everyone for your inputs

Progressive valving (FOX, King, etc) makes much more sense for a daily driver and occasional off roader. Icons are great when you're doing washboard at 100kph, but that happens once per year and I'd rather have a softer ride in the city.

One of the coilovers was also defective straight from the factory, and my experience in dealing with Icon was atrocious. I'll never again give them any of my money.

Doing it again, they wouldn't even be a consideration. FOX or King.

FOX have extended version too, the extended length is very close the same than ICON's: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/coilover-lengths.403450/#post-11252027, so there is no an extra 1/2" drop with ICONs.

BEAUTIFUL. A suspension system done RIGHT. Performance off-road suspensions are the very definition of "paying for what you get".
