TRD Cat Back Exhaust

    Anybody have any experience with the TRD cat back exhaust on the 3rd gen Tacomas? How's it sound?

    That's a matter of personal preference. IMO, ANY exhaust sounds like crap on Toyota, especially under heavy throttle. There is no performance gains or anything, so there is no benefit. Find a dealer that has one and go listen to it will be the only way to find out if you like it. You can look at videos and listen to sound clips all day long, but will always sound different in real life.

    The TRDUSA website claims 5-8 HP for the gen 2 cat back exhaust and I expect the gen 3 to be similiar. I did notice a more responsive engine when I installed mine. The sound is perfect for me. It is almost unnoticeable at idle but after 3k RPM it has a very nice sound. There is also no drone on the highway which all of the other cat backs have. I am glad to have this system on my truck and since it is stainless steel it will last the life of my truck which is important with all of the salt in the air here in Florida.
