Surges at 3,600 rpm's

I have a new '17 SR5 with 1,700+ miles. I notice that the engine feels as though it is holding back while accelerating. When the rpm's hit about 3,600, something lets go and I get a nice angry surge to near redline.

Any ideas??

Valve timing changes at 3500rpm. Normal.

 

that's your direct injection kicking in... right where you don't need it... i mean, who regularly runs their truck above 3600rpm?

anyway, many of us are hoping for a tune {and maybe a SC} one day. full range DI would be amazing on this engine.

 

The power in the 3-4K RPM range is impressive, definitely pulls much harder. Wish it had more power throughout the RPM range, however I am happy, love the truck!

 

V6 rev it for power... @ 3600 RPM is the variable valve timing kicking in.
