TRD Sport vs Off Road Challenge?

I've been searching for some videos hoping to find comparisons on STOCK TRD Sports and STOCK Off Roads in the same off road terrain hoping to find where the Sport falls short, but where the Off Road (easily) makes it through. I haven't found any of those video's yet! Does anyone have some good links?

Was thinking it'd be easier to find these as I'd think it'd be some good marketing.

And before anyone asks, I contemplated both when purchasing my Sport, but in the little off roading I do, I've never "needed" 4Low. But, i'd at least like to know my limitations so I don't get 'stuck' in a bad situation

 

Basically the off road just comes with an upgraded/more comfortable suspension, rear locker, 4 low and crawl control..

 

The OR just comes with a couple options to make getting out of situations easier/better. I think they are both capable of going the same places.

 

The only significant difference is the rear locker unless trd sports dont have 4low? I thought they did but if they dont that would also be pretty significant

 

yeah I get that it has crawl and other terrain selection and lockers, but i'm looking for videos that shows a stock OR with a stock Sport following it and basically showing these are the types of terrains an OR can go but not Sport

 

Youre asking for too much. I doubt anyones made that video and itd be circumstantial at best. A 4x4 sport isnt far behind a 4x4 OR but there are definitely places where a locked OR could go/get out of that a sport wouldnt be able to.

 

I would be interested in seeing this as well.

 

Go on YouTube Taco Bandit posted up a video today on just that, and has other comparison vids on his channel with Or vs sport..

Not really comparable as most people that would opt to do this aren't stock anymore.

Most sports can do anything an OR can do, it just takes more speed.

Lockers give the luxury of requiring very little speed to beat obstacles.

 

The only place the OR will really outperform a Sport is if one of the rear wheels is off the ground. Sport will sit and spin, locker in the OR will spin the tire that is on the ground. other than that, it's apples to oranges.

 

Better luck to search for Locker vs No locker vids. Or locker on vs locker off. Any vehicle.
You'll see the difference pretty quick.

Gives you a good idear of what types of obstacles are suited for the type of equipment you have.

 

A lot of it depends on drivers skill. Irregardless of the vehicle. There is a Ton of videos of people destroying their 4X4's.

 

Thanks I watched his creek crossing one earlier while on the hunt, but glad I went back to find this one. It was pretty good and closest to what i'm looking for so far.

 

I have a 2016 Sport, AC with MT. At the time the only way I could get a MT with the AC is to get the sport. Figured the only thing I was missing was the fancy shocks and rear locker - Something I could add at any time if I wanted to. I use this truck to access mountain top transmitter sites for work so use the 4WD frequently - YES is has Low Range (use that too) Not sorry I got the sport ...Only thing I don't care for is the scoop as it reduces forward visibility when dealing with steep hills etc (Would love to trade for a 'normal' hood). Am VERY pleased with the MT - Have friends that bought the AT...They have gripes...I have none ! Go for the Manual. Clay/K7CR

I'm a big off-road guy here in Colorado/Moab UT.. You need crawl control and a rear locker if you want to tackle some of the Jeep trails here. With a jeep you can get more articulation then the Toyota.
If you do not have these things then you're gonna need a winch, straps with a buddy.
Sorry but if you rock crawl serious trails, you know the answer.
