Here's my build thread. The end goal is to have a truck that I'm just as comfortable driving across the country as I am driving on the trail.
2014 Blue Ribbon Metallic Double-Cab, Short Bed, TRD Off-Road 4x4

After enjoying my Scion tC for almost a decade I bought a Tacoma in November of 2015, approximately 1 week before I was about to move across the country from Austin to Nashville.

Current pictures of the truck: (9/16/19)

The first thing I did knowing I was about to drive across the country was get a bed-cover. The cover has been awesome, it's sturdy enough to stand on, and hasn't leaked a drop of water. I also enjoy having a massive locking cabinet when I'm out camping, or just staying in a hotel.

After the bed cover I didn't go crazy messing with anything, I use the truck as my daily driver, and put about 20k on it in the first year I owned it. This Christmas I was given LED interior lights, and after putting them in the mod bug bit me again, so I'm beginning to decide what all I want to do with it.

Here's the LED compared to the stock halogen, it honestly makes me smile when I unlock my truck, the white looks great.

I've always thought that CB radios seemed cool, but never bothered to seriously look into it, or thought that I should mess with a setup. I saw a wheelin' trip coming up in March, and immediately the wheels started to turn, and sure enough I found a guy on craigslist willing sell me his used Cobra 29WXNWST and Mic for $40. It's a good solid radio with all the bells and whistles, just huge.

At this point I can't wait to start hooking this thing up so I hop online, and order the other parts I need (and maybe one I didn't) then waited for them to arrive.

Thanks to our good friend Amazon Prime my stuff showed up two days later.

    Power Cord-$6
    [IMG]

Tram 703-HC Center Load CB Antenna Kit-$19. I didn't take any photos of this mounted, but I just ran the antenna cable under the driver seat, and out the passenger door on the drivers side. I wasn't able to pick anyone up, but the weather channels came through clear, so I know it was working.

The CB already had Velcro on the back of so I'm sticking it to the carpet on the driver's side of the console, still trying to decide what other good solutions I have without drilling holes.

So I got a working CB radio setup for $65. That's where the fun stopped and started.

Obviously any man who still talks to his inner teenager knows that a CB radio is worthless unless you can scare innocent civilians, so while browsing Amazon I ran across this.

For only $8 I could not pass this up. It comes with a mounting bracket, and the cord from it is a pretty good length, 12ft maybe? You should also go read the first review, it's worth the click.
    [IMG]https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001D0LMG2/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1

So after I got the power hooked up the CB I went inside to go open the box I was really excited about
    [IMG]

After searching around my engine bay for a while trying to find the easiest place to mount this without drilling holes, and just using some zip-ties, I decided to set it up between the passenger headlamp and radiator.

I mounted it with a few zip-ties, then to try it out I ran the cable through the passenger door and plugged it in to the CB. I turned it on, tested it out, and my wife promptly ran out of the house to let me know that she couldn't hear the TV over me. Needless to say I was one happy camper, and was ready to run the cable for real.

I ran the cable around the engine bay, and notice I'm getting short on slack. I squeeze the cable between the grommet and firewall, go the driver side door, start to pull it through when the cable strips. I tape it up, pull it the rest of the way to the radio, but it no longer works. *womp womp* I tried to trim, and splice the cable a few times with no luck, and just admitted defeat.

I ordered another speaker, and an extension cable for it for an additional $12.

I left the old speaker in the truck while I waited for the new one to arrive just to make sure that it wasn't going to have any issues in that location, and I didn't notice anything, and the speaker still looked good when I pulled it out when the new one arrived.

Tonight the new speaker arrived, so I mounted it in the same location, tested it out, and then ran the cable around the engine bay. I just used zip-ties to attach it to the the existing wiring.

Once through the firewall I only pulled the cable about 2 inches, but this time I used a screwdriver to make space between the grommet and firewall, because I learned my lesson. I attached my extension cable, ran it under the floor mat, over to where the CB is mounted.

I went ahead and hooked all up, and now I have a working CB, and PA for under $100.

I'm sure there's things that I'll go back and change out, or things I should've done better, but for a what I need it works great.

    Update:
I used more Velcro on the handle of the CB, and put some on the side of my console. It feels way more secure and is really easy to adjust while driving.

Put new tires on last weekend 265/75/16 KO2s. I really like them, and it definitely makes the truck look better. Being in Tennessee we've already had sun, rain, and snow in the last 5 days, and the tires have felt great in all of it.

Back at the end of July I went ahead and placed an order for sliders with @Mobtown Offroad
DCSB Sliders with standard angle, kick-out, and fill-plates. They arrived 8 weeks later much to my co-workers confusion.

After loading them into my truck and getting them home, I let them sit until it was time to paint. I used acetone to wipe everything down and used Rustoleum Bedliner for paint.

I used two coats of bed-liner, and started off doing the hardware first, you can see before and after paint below. Although my paint wasn't perfect, I was happy enough for something I'm sure I'll end up touching up down the road anyway.

After letting them sit in my garage for the week, I called @Calmlikeabomb to come help get these on the truck. I lost a 1/4" in all four corners due to the weight, so not too bad considering everything. The install took maybe 3 hours, and was pretty straightforward, I'm excited to try these out on the trail.

Last week I pulled the trigger on the bumper and winch that have been on my wish list. Another member was selling off the very first SOS Concepts Streamline bumper with a Smittybilt X20-10 Comp Gen 2 winch and Factor 55 Prolink for a great deal.

Thanks @dan0mite for TW Express delivering them to me at the Black Mountain meet, and then helping me install the bumper.

The next morning @beertimecontinuum @dirty deeds and @Jibbs helped me wire and spool my winch, so I was good to go. I’m really happy with everything and we even put the winch to use later that day.

Black Mountain Fall Meet Oct 26-28, 2017:
This was a really fun trip, went with a group that took a turn down what turned out to not actually be an off-road trail. (Apparently it was under construction to be an ATV only trail).
It was definitely one hell of an adventure, we traveled about 2 miles in 6 hours, lost a couple bumpers, all got striped like flags, and were all smiles that evening around the campfire.
Kentucky was beautiful, and the wife and I will probably be back sometime.
Here’s a few pics of the fun, and mayhem.
    Beautiful park with great amenities.

Maybe if I'm lucky enough we'll be able to collaborate on a DYF bumper.

I'll run that by Amy, she likes you guys from LBL so there is a chance lol. I'm pretty much not doing one-off builds anymore.

It's all good either way, I hadn't really looked into rear bumpers at all until now, so I still don't know what direction I'm gonna go.

Here is a good place to start, lots of choices. Standard, high clearance (requires cutting the bed sides), swingouts, etc. You should get an idea for what you want then hit up the TN Thread for opinions. I'm always willing to help you install but you'd probably have better luck with someone local to Nashvegas lol

Hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving! I didn't end up doing much Black Friday shopping this year, but earlier this month I did get a good deal on the suspension I wanted (details in OP).
    :bananadance:
I'm hoping to have this on by the end of the year, but as long as it's on before the LBL meet in March I'll be a happy camper, literally.

I also have a new 14" antenna on the way to replace the TRD shorty antenna I lost at Black Mountain. You know the trail was bad when you lose a shorty antenna.
Exciting things are around the corner, stay tuned TW Fans.

Found this info which apparently came directly from Fox according the member who posted
“Fox 2.5 extended travel come w/13" 600 lb. coils. They're set by Fox @ 27 exposed threads, which is 1.925" of exposed threads, which equates to 3" lift stock (w/out heavy bumpers, skids, etc.).
This (1.925" of exposed threads) is the max Fox recommends on their 2.5 ext. travel C/O's.“

Got my new antenna last night and threw it on the truck. It's a Steadfast Toyota antenna, and only 14 inches so it shouldn't cause me any grief while riding trails. After having shorty antennas on both my last car, and this truck I'm really liking this new one, this is the first time in over a decade that I have decent radio reception.
