I just picked up a 2017 SR5 4 x 4 and I'm already wanting to mod it two days later. My first question is about tire sizing and a small lift. I was going to do a mild 3 inch lift with strut spacers up front and blocks in the rear. I was then going to do 1.5" wheel spacers and leave the stock wheels on. I'm trying to fit a 285/75-16 MT tire. Are there any problems with the set up?

No advice ...but people here,do not like running that kind of lift. Unless something changed that I don't know about.

Bilstein 5100's would be the best way to go. Affordable, and will be a way better ride than adding blocks.

Talk with Marie from headstrong off road. Great customer service and will point you in the "right" direction.

I'm guessing since it's so cheap, people go right to it especially if they don't have any knowledge, which is totally understandable since i was on the same boat before I got hooked here and did some reading.

Yeah, pm Marie @HeadStrong Off-Road (Vendor of the year).

With the amount of money you've already spent on this truck, spend the money on a good suspension set up.

I say burn the factory tires off it, get a feel for the truck....and start off with small upgrades...you know skids, plate bumper....stuff like that...by that time you will know what lift you want.

I definitely agree there are much better ways to do this and I plan on spending the real money on it when I can. Works wants to buy me a new set of tires. Whatever I want. Figured I'd invest a couple hundred in order to get the tires for now and work on saving up for a real suspension upgrade. Wanting advice on whether the setup I am talking about will realistically work for the moment. Kind of a backwards way of doing it but I can't pass up a free $1,500+/- of tires.

Spacers/blocks aren't going to immediately destroy the truck. Long-term use, especially off road use, tend to cause premature wear on certain parts.

OP: The spacer lift you are looking at should technically work to fit the tires you want, but it may rub a bit. Probably gotta lose any mud flaps at minimum.
For the record...My vote still goes for a suspension lift, but I understand your predicament.

I have an opportunity to get some no miles takeoffs 2016 tacoma TRD off-road OEM shocks and struts (bilstein) and UCAs free. Will they fit my 2017 SR5 and should I do it?
