Hey guys, have been meaning to get a build thread going for my truck for a while now. I've had the truck about a year or so, and its come along pretty good so far.

This is my 3rd Tacoma, first that was 4x4. I had a 2wd 5 lug DD and coming from dirtbikes I was missing my camping, and time in the dirt so I set out to pick up another truck. I knew what I wanted, and wasn't going to settle. My rules were: 4x4, 3.4l, Xtra Cab, 5 speed, and non power windows and doors, and low miles. I was looking and looking and people were wanting 9k for a truck with 220k miles on it, and they were selling. I had a few pop up that I missed because I couldnt get there fast enough and than this one came up, and I made it to it, and it fit.

2001 Tacoma, Extra Cab, 5 Speed, 4x4, non power and 99k Miles. it had some dings and dents, which I wasn't too worried about because of what I was going to use it for. I picked it up for 6700 bucks. 100% Stock when I bought it.

    index.jpg

This photo is 2 weeks after I bought it, and the night before I installed my lift. I had put my toolbox from my other truck in at this point and that was it so far.

I've got 2 co2 tanks as well. Going to be mounting and plumbing those shortly. Picked up the tanks for $10 a piece. Just waiting on my regulator and some air line and some fittings.

Figured I should update a little. Got my bed rack last night. Still tinkering around with where on the bed I want to put it exactly. (When the tent is on the rack I still need to be able to get into my bed box because that's where my tools and OBA is stationed.

The guys at avid off-road did a killer job. Came out great! It's approximately 7" off the bed rails iirc. And it has hi lift mounts and tabs for the tent. My plan is to leave the hi lift mounts up front so that way I can get my camp table and other items in and out of the basket from the rear if I so desire.

are you still running the bilstein eibachs? How are they? I'm currently running some preload spacers that NEED to go

and are you running a sway bar at all or disconnecting when offroad?

I removed the sway bar when I did my lift. And i do still have the bilstein eibach combo on my truck and I really like it. Im waiting for a deal on some upper control arms to come along. Than ill swap to the coilovers, the upper control arms, and fix my leaky diff seal. All in one go.

I like the way it feels on the road actually better to be honest. The first time you drive without it it feels a little mushy but you get used to it. I can still change lanes and stuff no problem on the freeway etc. Merge freeways at regular speed. Just know if you have to panic brake to be smooth and not jerk the wheel or do something dumb.. Ya know?

Ya, i gotcha. Even with the preload spacers, the stock suspension feels mushy so ill probably wait til I get a better setup up front...

As in COOL build man. It also serves as a tag, so it's easier to find your thread. I know I can subscribe as well.
