01 or 04 double cab 4x4

I've been looking hard for a good deal on a black 2004 tacoma double cab 4x4. I've came across a couple but they both sold before I could get myself to pull the trigger do to high miles. My question is how much difference if any is there between a 2001 and 2004? Body, bed, engine? I've came across a black 01 double cab with low miles. Just didn't know how much differences there was between the two since I was so dead set on an 04. Thanks

 

Never owned an 2001 but I believe the center console is different maybe door panels and A/C controls. Engine The 2001 doesn't have the electronic throttle. I could be completely wrong to.

 

Ones drive by wire, ones not.

 

They will be very, very similar. Enough so, that I wouldn't hesitate to jump on the 01 if it looks/feels better than the 04.
