This is exactly what happened to my Chief in Jersey. In 9 yrs the taxes on the house they built when he retired from active duty Air Force, intending to live there 'til he died, more than doubled. They had to downsize and move to be able to afford to fully retire.

I am waiting for the day someone blames the vehicle for not having some system they are used to depending on to prevent them from screwing up which, in turn caused them to have an accident.
