    Does anyone know what weight of gear oil to put in the rear diff (w/o locker) of an 03 tacoma?

    I don't think it gets below 0F in Ontario CA to say 80W-90 according to what you posted.

    "Differential (REAR) SAE 80W-90 Below 0F, SAE 90 Above 0F"

    I stand corrected for the 03 per Toyota to use straight 90, I wonder why that spec changed.

    I dunno, that is odd. I'd have a hard time, myself, running straight 90w in the diffs.

    Yeah I ended up throwing in 75w90.. but genuine buffoonery has struck again. Of course my ass forgot to put the washer on the drain bolt. :frusty: How important is that washer??

Replaced stock radio with a Pioneer AVH series head unit. Focal component system w/a 10" sub powered by 2 Alpine amps. Weathertech floor mats. Line-X'd the bed. SCS Ray 10’s, Installed an A.R.E. MX series camper shell. All-Pro Apex front bumper w/ All-Pro skid plates all the way back to the Trans. Low Range fuel skid plate.
    I'd play it safe. I'd rather pay for a bottle of 75W90 than a new rear diff.

    It's a gasket. Without it, it should weep diff oil. I guess if it doesn't leak, I don't know how it wouldn't, then run it until it does start weeping. And then put the plug gasket on. But of course, it really should be there.

    Lol, and Mobil 1 isn't a professional company? I've been running it in Yota diffs for 15+ years. Never had a problem. I'm not buying that dino oil stuff man, old school minds need to get with the times. I'm not aware of a single application on these tacos where it would actually be better to run dino oil. Now you can argue well synthetic is bad, a waste, etc. But to actually say dino performs better than synthetic??? C'mon.

    Agreed, no reason not to run synthetic. I use dino oil to break in new gears, which is what most diff shops recommend, mostly because it's cheaper.
    I have mobil1 75-90 in both diffs and the transfer case, works great.

    Has anyone ever used the Redline MT-90 in their diffs? I'm about to change out all my oils again and going with the Redline MT-90 for my trans and wondering if I can just use it for my diffs and transfer case too. Wondering if Toyota suggests GL-4/GL-5 oils with the trans vs the diffs-transfer case?
