I've received my new Bilstein's from HeadStrong and I'm thinking about running the driver side one at the second to lowest setting and the pass. side one on the lowest. Do you guys think that this would fix the 1/4" driver side sag or would it be to much?
    Your thoughts?

I would guess too much, then you would have a passenger side lean...

I think dusman is right. 2nd notch = 0.65. Probably just change the problem to the other side.

Hey guys question...I'm still deciding which lift to go with,4" spindle lift or a Bilstein 3" lift.....the only thing keeping me from the 4" spindles is having to do the carrier bearing drop kit....

SO, for those that have the 3" Bilstein lift all around with 2888 coils, driver spacer and single AAL in the rear....how does the truck sit? Is it level? Does it have a bro lean? or does the truck still have a slight rake?

Looking to order my kit today but want to see if a Deaver AAL (single) will raise the rear enough to be level with the front or if I should do a 1" or 1.5" small block along with the AAL....would appreciate ya'll giving your input!

lol just talked to him about the CB drop kit. I think I'm going to stay with the spindles.

Thinking of going 885s & 5100s or the 6112s the come with coils. Any reason to pay the extra $$ to go with the 6112s?

Dusman & Bigfoote , Thanks for the info!
Maybe I'm missing something, but what is the best way with my setup to get rid of that driver side 1/4" sag?

I dont think there is an 1/8 spacer. Are you on the stock coils? Check the rubber washer at the top of the coil to see if there is something wrong.

I'm going to be "that guy" and ask this - I've read the whole thread, read the whole other 3rd gen Bilstein 5100 thread, and searched... and I'm still not 100% sure about this.

    I realize individual results vary.

That said, I want to install 5100s all around and keep the stock springs. I want to level the front, or have the front just a hair lower than the rear, which should be about 1" +/- lift in the front. 2017 AC 4WD SR (base).

My concern is that 3rd gen 5100s at .65 will be too low and still give too much forward rake, and 1.1 will be too high and give a hair rear rake. I think 2nd gen 5100s at .85 may be the way to go to be mostly level with just a hair of forward rake but I'm honestly unclear about this. Anyone with this setup (leveled only) care to comment on the best option?

Also, when we are referring to "settling" after install, I always thought this pertained to the SPRINGS, not the struts. No? The way I'm reading the thread, even guys with stock springs (that should already be broken in from use) are having settling after install? Yes/no?

    Thanks...

Hey guys, so on the 3rd gen Bilstein struts, Headstrong does not recommend using the 5th setting on our Tacomas.

I am running a 4" spindle lift with these struts set at 0 but need to gain another 2-2.5" to clear my tires.

What are the dangers of using the 5th or highest setting? Is anyone here running theirs on that 2" notch?

It isn't us that doesn't recommend it necessarily. That is a recommendation made from Bilstein themselves. If you are wanting to gain more lift in order to try to clear you can go with a lift coil and keep the Bilsteins at the 0 setting. This will also help with the ride quality.

I just assumed it was something ya'll didn't recommend because it's under the 3rd gen Bilstein shocks. But I wouldn't like to sacrifice ride quality with compressing the springs too much. So you think a spacer will do just fine?

You already have the spacers there right? If so you could just give it a try and see how you like it.

I have my RC spacer that they claim is 2". I will try using that and see how it looks. I am looking to get steel blocks for the rear but they are hard to find. Is this something that you carry?
