Welp, I fuckin accidentally drained my transmission when I was attempting to do my oil change yesterday. (I also have double the amount of oil in the engine too, since I filled the oil in the correct place, but didn't drain it) so it looks like I'll be doing this today. God damn it. Not my proudest moment.

Wow, you can just drain 5qt of motor oil and be done with it lol, run it for a few thousand miles and then change it again.
As for the ATF, just pump back the amount you drained.

I thought about that, but I didn't think it'd be ideal to run with a mix of new oil and old.

Question. If I do the dialysis method with the drill/electric pump do I need to drain the pan first and fill 3 quarts? Seems pointless if I'm gonna drain it all through the front end. If thats the case, I never have to touch the drain plug correct. Just fill and level check plugs at the end ya?

You may want to drop and clean the pan and magnets. Otherwise the sludge will eventually mix with the new fluid. Also inspect the filter screen. Might as well get that part out of the way first.

Bought the fluid, not deciding on which method to pump the oil into the return line into the transmission from the front. Do you guys think that the following if we remove the handle entirely, can keep up with the flow of the tranny pump dumping out oil?

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VbNhswhnvuA

Or is the drill/electric pump the way to go?

The tranny pump is pretty strong and that lame flow device will not keep up with it.
Just get the $12 drill pump and be sure you have a good strong drill.
Or do the stop and start method from the first post.

You run new+old regardless, you're never getting all the old oil out.

Also +1 to this thread again. I don't know how many times I've referenced this thread in and out of TW for people considering paying a shop to flush their trans.

After reading all 33 pages twice I managed to finally perform a full flush yesterday on my 2013 trd sport with tow package. Decided to do my own detailed write up.

    Tools needed
    Needle nose pliers
    Philips head Screwdriver
    5mm HEX bit
    12mm, 14mm and 24mm sockets
Ratchet with 1/4" and 3/8" drive 6" extensions
    Torque wrenches (1/4" and 3/8")
    Power drill
    Pump from Amazon
20ft of 3/8"ID clear vinyl tubing from Lowes.
2 marked 5 gallon buckets from Lowes.
4 gallons of valvoline max life
    2 crush washers (part #: 35178-30010 )

    Steps
    1. Remove fill bolt (24mm) on transmission
    2. With pan ready, remove overflow plug (5mm hex) and drain plug (14mm).
    3. Let drain (use time to prepare for pan drop). This drained 3.5L.
    4. Replace drain and overflow plug to avoid mess. Remove 10mm bolts from pan (leave one or 2 in so pan doesn't drop making mess)
    5. Carefully drop pan, drain remaining fluid from pan bringing total to 4L drained. Clean out inside of pan + magnets, remove old gasket.
    6. Unbolt transmission filter, be aware more fluid will come out at this point (be sure o-ring comes out as well), install new filter and tighten to 7ftlb.
    7. After checking new filter, install cleaned pan with new gasket, tighten bolts by hand then torque to 39inch/lb.
    8. Put new gasket on pan and use screws to hold gasket in place while you lift it back up to the transmission.
    9. Replace the drain plug (21ft/lb) with new washer along with the overflow plug. Torque to spec leaving overflow hand tight.
    10. Take note of amount drained (4 liters) and refill transmission through fill hole the same amount. Put fill plug back in hand tight.
    11. Move to front of truck. Lift hood, remove grille and disconnect both lines to the right of the ATF cooler connected to the radiator. The one on top is the return line that you want to pump new fluid into, the bottom is where the old fluid will come out. (I connected tubing to both lines into waste bucket and start truck for a moment to note which line is sending out old fluid.
    12. Connect other line to pump and 5gal bucket full with the remaining 3+ gallons of new fluid. Secure all lines.
    13. Start vehicle. Old fluid starts flowing out instantly, Use drill to start pumping in the new fluid. Do this until new fluid starts coming out the old fluid line. Stop pumping and Turn vehicle off.
    14. Reconnect lines to ATF cooler. Secure hose clamps with pliers.
    15. Restart vehicle. Let idle in park until transmission temp reaches 115F. Shift through the gears a few times to get the fluid moving. At this point I used my scan gauge 2 after imputing the correct xgauge codes I was able to monitor the transmission fluid temp.
    16. Once the fluid has reached 115-130F, With vehicle still idling remove overflow plug and let excess trickle out. Replace plug with new washer and torque (15ft/lb). ***If no fluid comes out, turn off vehicle, add a bit more through fill plug, restart vehicle and idle. Check for runout from overflow.***
    17. Double check the fill, drain and overflow plugs to make sure they're torqued to spec.
    18. Take for test drive to store for beers.

If u dump the fluid in the pan then refill with new fluid first, then move to the front to pump out the rest, won't the output line pump out the new fluid u just put in?
