appreciate any comments / recommendations on putting a TRD catback exhaust vs. flowmaster vs. borla vs. magnaflow? I am installing the following on my 2006 TRD:

    Bilstein Three inch lift
17" Ray 10 Stealth Custom Wheels
    285x70x17 KO2
    Magnuson Supercharger
    TRD Quickshift
New stock clutch (any suggestions for improvements on the clutch type, other than OEM)?

I assume I will have no wheel rub given the above metrics???????

Just not sure on catback exhaust. Don't want it to load and I don't want a hum inside at cruising speed.

Thank you to all who respond with advice and opinions!

If this a requirement then add "leave it stock" to your poll. That'd be my vote because adding noise is what all those do best. The amount of hp they add is negligible, but they all add noise. How much varies, and how it sounds is a matter of personal opinion. The search feature will yield lots of exhaust info. Enjoy your S/C, and nice choice with the ray10s', one of my personal favs. Btw, welcome to TW .

Don't bother with another stock clutch. Go ahead and install a URD Stage 2 or similar. Feels/behaves like the stock clutch, but holds much better.

Had a TRD. I couldn't stand the sound any more, so I took it off, painted my stock exhaust black, put it back on, and dumped it over the axle. The TRD was fine at idle or when cruising, but it annoyed me the rest of the time. Everyone is different, but that was my experience. HTH.

Unless you are changing from manifold back to larger piping, just changing anything from the cat back does nothing but make it sound like crap. Only reason to even consider changing from stock, should be to reduce restrictions, as it will ALWAYS sound like a ricer.

I agree! Just going to leave it stock.

Do you have any insight on the TRD quickshifter? Worth it?

Shifting has to do with the driver, not the stick. Waste of money on a lifted truck. Use that money for better things, like the stronger than stock URD clutch kit.
Also, 285's will need CMC and a little trimming.

The URD 2.85 supercharger pulley makes the supercharger run much better!
    There, that was positive.

Cab Mount Chop. 285's will rub on the cab mount and you will need to cut it. Also, you really need uniball upper control arms if you don't already.

This is what I am using for the suspension mod:

    • 2005-2016 Toyota Tacoma Front Bilstein Adjustable Shocks - 5100 Series 0-2.5" Lift (24-186711)
    • 2005-2016 Toyota Tacoma 2" Add A Leaf Kit, Pair (TAC-SP-AAL2)
    • 2005-2016 Toyota Tacoma Differential Drop Kit (LR-2GDDK)
    • 2005-2016 Toyota Tacoma OEM Style Metric Extended U-Bolts 216MM Long (8.5")
    • 2005-2016 Toyota Tacoma Bilstein 5100 Rear Shock 0-1" Lift (BE5-C476-H0, 24-186728)
    • 2005-2016 Toyota Tacoma Stainless Steel Brake Line Kit - Front and Rear 2" Longer Than Stock (TAC-B-KIT-05-2)
    • Toyota Old Man Emu OME Coil Springs (2887)
Will I still need the uniball upper control arm? Thank you
