Fuel light

There are posts from others who have run it bone dry, and the pump survived just fine. I think you would have to keep it running for a long time bone dry to get it hot enough to fry. If you run out, turn the key off until you have gas in it.

 

"Topping off your tank" is very bad for your charcoal canister. It can trash it over a period of time if one continues overfilling their tank. Is it really worth pumping a little more into your tank? Not in my book. It's not like it's going to get you an extra 30+ miles by doing so on every fill up.

 

When my light comes on I fill up, it takes 18 gallons. That means there is 3.1 gallons left. I don't dare run the tank dry, because according to some on TW my truck will catch fire and burn to the ground.

 

Mine also seems to come on with closer to 3 gallons remaining.

 

I've gone further not by choice.
