How many miles would you say is to many for a 2013 Tacoma TRD OR? I'm looking to buy my first Tacoma and found one near me but it has 81K miles on it for a price I am comfortable with. I'm not planning on buying another truck for at least 10 years.

My current truck an 03 Ford Ranger I bought with 104K miles 6-7 years ago and it now has 168K. Starting to have a few more issues now. Trying to decide if I should pull the trigger on the new truck or not.

    Thoughts?

You put 9-10K miles a year on a vehicle, which isn't that much. In 10 years it would have in the ball park of 180K on it and be about 14 years old. If you take care of it you shouldn't have any major problems...assuming it is in good shape now. I just sold an 11 year old 4-runner with 180K miles. The only thing I ever did to it other than normal maintenance was replace a rear axle seal.

If it's been maintained I'd consider buying one that new with that many miles but I'd want to see records.

I know too many people who buy a new vehicle every so often and drive it with no maintenance other than a Spliffy Lube oil change every so often.

You are missing one important variable .....How much is the truck?!
Is it private sale or do you have a link to the truck you can share?

Truck asking price is $23k. Pictures look like there isn't anything wrong with it cosmetically. It is at a dealership.

Just got a chance to look at the carfax for the Tacoma I am looking at. Looks like an accident is listed on the report. However, the owner of the vehicle drove it for another 50K miles before trading the truck back into the dealership that originally sold it. Would this raise any red flags to you? To me it almost doesn't seem like the accident listed was really anything to worry about since the owner still drove it a lot. Would you use that accident listing on the carfax to get the truck down even more in price?

Beware the carfax. Most of the time from my experience, the information on them is wrong. And besides, an accident on carfax is just something that is reported. It could me minor. I was rear ended last April and it doesnt show up if you pull the fax on my truck.

Yeah. I have called the dealership and the dealership that was listed right after the accident (5 months later) and it didn't seem like anything major. The selling dealership called and stated that there was no damage, just that the police were called which caused the item to show up on the carfax.

Trying to decide between this vehicle and another.
Truck A is a 2013 TRD OR DCSB and has 81K miles with an asking price of $23k
Truck B is a 2013 TRD OR DCSB and has 59.6K miles with an asking price of $25.9k and is certified.

Soon to be a new parent with a single income I am looking to see what my best option is. Interest rate could be the difference possibly.

I know you have to draw a line somewhere, but...

I've seen a lot of trucks with a lot less miles for $3-5k more. That's what, 15% give or take of what you're already spending.

Several years worth of miles for a few grand seems like a no brainer to me. At the very least, the 60k truck seems like a better value.
