Anybody get a hollow bass sound out of the dual 10 inch sub box at higher volumes

 

Do you have polyfil in the box?

 

Yes I do.. I just put some in there to see if it would help and I still get the same Hollie bass as the volume goes up.. bass sounds good at lower volumes then as it goes up it starts to fade and you get that hollow sound

 

Sounds like your clipping or playing outside of the drivers capability range. Which subs and amp?

 

Kind of just fluttering sound?

 

I'm running kicker comp and 1500w planet audio amp

 

I wouldn't say fluttering.. at lower volume it sounds pretty good.. it's hard to explain when I go to higher volumes like 20 you can hear a hollow bass sound like the bass just goes away

 

Which kicker comp?

 

To me personally it sounds like you are clipping. Adjust the gains on your amp so that when the vocals are are the max your bass is matched at its max

I've tried everything on my amp

 

I had that sub before, if your amp is anywhere near 1500 at all it is way over powering them 10s. Whats the rms on the amp. Ignore peak wattage

 

I think 750w rms

 

If i remember correctly the kickers are 150 rms . So you need 300ish not 750

 

I'm not really sure what I need to do.. get new subs, new box, new amp ??

 

Just turn the gain down. Or get a amp thats closer to the wattage you need

 

I know the planet audio amp I have is lower end and probably doesn't push 1500w.. could you help on what amp I need ?
