Fucking hell. I pretty much paid double. Kill me please.
Oh well. I need the part ASAP because it's gotten worse in the past few days. But I will definitely be getting the other side's online.

For just one. I guess that's what I get for living in/near relatively wealthy towns. Upcharge cuz rich folks amrite??

At least you got OEM I bought cheap ones and I'm about to undo everything and install Toyota parts. Just be sure you use fresh bolts and some locktite for insurance.

Yeah certain items I will only get OEM. Ball joints being one of them. But still, that price...
I have new bolts on the way. I have no idea if my LBJ will come with them. Unfortunately, I am not so sure I will have time to do the swap tomorrow. But whether it be tomorrow or Wednesday when I do it, if the new bolts aren't in yet, I will just reuse the old ones for the day or so that it takes them to get here. I would much quicker trust the old bolts and loctite before this LBJ. It's very clearly not to be relied on much at this point.

Ya I ran old bolts for a couple weeks, I'm sure you'll be fine. I've just looked at too many LBJ failure pics on Google lol. That would suck

This is a good time as any to ask. While Kings are realistically not in my budget, I am considering them for numerous reasons. It would just take longer to get them than something else lol
My question is this. What's the deal with the spring rate? I hear that OME 883s are a fairly rough ride without some weight because they are 590# spring rate. But aren't the softer King COs at like 650# spring rate or some such? I never hear anyone speaking of a rough ride though, even if they are not weighed down heavy. It doesn't make sense to me, so what's the deal with that?

I know! And what's really bad is not just the Google and TW ones explicately for 1st gen Tacomas, but the results if I JUST search 'lower ball joint failure'. It's like 80% 1st gen Tacos, 15% 3rd gen 4Runners, and 5% others.

The spring soften up a ton after the first 100 miles or so. 35s definitely sped up the process a bit, but I have to wrench them up a bit more now that I think they are pretty settled. The ride is unmatched! but this is my first experience with Coilovers so I dont have much to compare to

Yes, you do not want them set at anything else or it will ride so bad

You can get Kings at a 600# rate, but if you plan on getting more weight up front I'd get the 650# just so you don't have to preload them very much.

The valving is what I think makes the ride a lot smoother

That's what I figured, I've got stock coils with Billie's maxed out. I was considering moving it down a notch to get a better cv angle. (they pop sometimes) buy they are aftermarket cheap cv's. Hoping those coils won't give the full 3" of lift since they're used plus the added weight of my ARB

The coilover has a short sping compared to the 883s. The preset compression in the ome spring is what gives the rough ride withought enough weight on the front of the truck. And the kings come standard with 600s.

I see. Well my plan for OME was 882 because my only plans for weight up front are really either a tube or hybrid bumper, and skids. So I am thinking 600# would be fine. I mean sure, I could always get 650# for future just in case, but if that future never comes or comes a while down the road, it seems silly to ride around with stiff ass springs.

Not that any lift related questions are going to be relevant any time soon, especially if I do plan to go with King. Rate of savings is a limiter enough, but with all the maintenance I have planned for this warm season, it seems like suspension might have to wait even longer...:(

I like the yellow a lot. I'd suggest covers (Rigid's or something similar), but 3m works as well.
Those that say it's ricer can fugoff.

Yeah that ARB will help with keeping the angles down

I'd just get 600# then, I plan on getting a winch down the road so that's why I went with 650#
