OK new here so take it easy on me!

So here is my question. I have a 2010 double cab TRD Sport long box on order for April and I want to have everything worked out before it arrives. I am looking for advice on tire size. I am planning on putting a 3inch lift on the truck and would like bigger tires 32 33 something like that. I don’t do any hard core off roading. I what it just for looks really. What is my best option for still maintaining a decent ride quality? Also if I run 285/70R17 or 295/70r17 with the 3” lift do I need spacers?

285s and a 3" lift will work well. As for spacers, depends if you plan on using the stock wheels.

285's you will need to do a little bit of trimming. But it's pretty minor.

    I moved from 285s to 295s a few weeks back, and had to trim even more. I love the 295s though... here's a shot;

Yah I was going to go with the stock 17 sport rims. Will I need spacers with them and if so what size? Thanks by the way!

Spidertrax 1.25" spacers are the way to go. You'll want a pair for the front, and a pair for the back. I recommend Wheeler's Offroad: Give em a call and they help you get exactly the right stuff. :)

If you decide to get aftermarket rims, you may have to get some spacers, but that all depends on the rims you get. how much backspacing and such. But if you plan on sticking with your stock rims, you won't need to do a thing except install the beautiful new tires and trim some of the fenders. :) And depending on which setup for your lift you go with, you will want to consider new UCA's. Don't max out your coilovers if you get them and that will help with having a nice ride also.

if you run some 4.5" or more backspacing rims 285's will clear just fine. Its funny im new to the tacoma world...i traded in my big ass dodge 2500 for this taco and it came stock with 285/70/17 and they lookes soo tiny! But they look great on tacomas with a 3" lift

So to be clear if I get 285/70R17 BF Goodrich All-Terrain T/A KO on My Stock 17" and go with a Toytec 3" lift will I need to get wheel spacers or do any trimming? I am not a big fan of having to trim much off a new truck

You'll need either aftermarket rims with 4.5 backspacing or wheel spacers (spidertrax) in order to fit 285/70/17. You're going to rub big time with stock rims.

So I will be ok if I get the spacers on the stock rims?

Thanks by the way! Tacoma World is the shit!

yes, if you put spacers on your stock wheels, you should be good to go with 285s and trimming of the front and back wheel wells. get your dremel out, it makes trimming so much easier.

Why not use the $220 its gonna cost you for the Spidertrax and put that $ towards a better looking set of rims with the proper backspacing?

Not a bad idea to get a better set of Wheels. I am new to this so all suggestions are welcome.

In everyone’s opinion what is the best wheels and tires to put on a 3 inch lift and still maintain a decent ride but look a little more aggressive?

^ what they said about putting the $ from the spidertrax towards new wheels.

plus, you can sell your stock wheels too. between both of those, you'd almost have your new set of wheels.

OK for now I am going to stick with my stock 17" rims so I am thinking 3" lift and 265/75R17 tires. I am told they should fit perfect without any spacers or trimming? Is that right?

    Thanks everyone!!!

I think you mean 265/70/17. If so, you wouldn't even need a lift for that size. Most people go 285/70/17 with a 3 inch lift.
