Line x is basically to blacken out the back side of the fenders and more importantly straighten them some.
I didn't do that to mine, I had mine colored match.
My bedsides are all chipped up from my front tires throwing rocks at them but I gave up trying to my truck looking pretty

 

He needs to exclusively stay in the southern ca section and he'd be ok, but we know that won't happen

Just like what @Jerez that pretty paint going to get scratched. You can line-x it where you will see paint wear from the tires. The rear glass front bulge section takes the worst hit.

 

So basically, don't spend too much on paint or keep it looking like a panda? Haha. Do you know if wraps wear better than paint?

They are kinda both the same. Actually the more expensive paint with a thick hard clear coat holds up well. I'll try to find an example of how people line-x the abrasive areas so you still can have a clean paint job.

Little bit more bedliner than you typically see, but here is a good example of what people do. This guys beats this truck up too.

 

I was thinking of adding Bedliner to the front portion of my bedsides too kinda like that to cover up all the chips lol

 

I had gone through many miles of that pouring rain a few weeks back when it was super misty on the freeways. All the roads in the IE and Covina were either flooded or had deep water.

Even taking hits slow

I'm probably gonna take the intake apart this weekend and pull it inside the engine bay.
