Is this a good deal?

I have read through a few of the threads and I have watched the prices of Tacomas for years and I just want some other guys' opinions. I found a 2004 Extra Cab 4x4 A/T TRD with 168,000 miles in Lunar Mist with color matched bumpers. Personally, I don't like the color and the fact that it's an A/T, but should I pick it up anyway? The seller is asking $8000. I thought it was a pretty good deal at first, but the more I look around the more paranoid I become. Really, if I buy it I would drive it until I found another truck and then sell it. What would you price it at if it were yours? Here is the link. Thanks

If the frame is solid and there is no rust that's actually a good price, maybe even lower than expected.

Also check the VIN for the frame TSB to see if it was done (if available)

I haven't went to look at it yet but from the picture it looks clean. I'll check the vin when I go see it.

I am about to go look at the truck. I don't think I will pay over 7500 for it whether it is worth more or not, I don't have much more money than that and I don't need a payment on a truck I don't intend on keeping long. If anyone has advice on how much you paid for your truck that would be nice.

Thanks, I agree. I guess the question is do you think if I bought this truck I could drive it for a couple months and then sell it and make a little money from it?

If you don't discover any serious issues, you certainly wouldn't lose money.

if you don't intend to keep it long, why buy it? just wait for something you will keep :notsure:

and honestly that's not expensive for the Tacoma. below the salt belt good condition trucks sell for more.

As an example, I wouldn't let mine go for less than 11.5k. I just hit 150k, 1 owner, frame and tire recall done, records kept, new OME suspension last year, and a few odds and ends for fun.

Well, I thought I'd be able to drive it for a while and sell it when I found another Tacoma I like better and make a little money off of it in the process. I have been looking to replace the 1996 with an 01-04. In Western NC, you would have no problem getting 11.5k for your truck. There is nothing fancy about this one, but if I could buy it for 7500, drive it for 6 months, then sell it for 8500 or 9000 when I find another truck, I'd do it. I'm just not sure I'd be able to. I'd just like some TW members to "appraise" this one I guess haha. Seemed like a good deal to me, but I wanted some assurance.

that truck is easily worth 10k, I'd scoop it up. Like I said though, check those little things that could be potential red flags :)
