It's simple because it was just a trail rig - Garden Edging. Cheap, and you don't worry about it being ripped off.

No problem, good luck with your build. Also, so I don't go claiming full credit. I helped build this beast, but my buddy sourced most of the parts and put up the money to build it. We've been building trail rigs for years together, including a 198(6?) 4-Runner with over 12" of lift, a 1990 Pick-up with about the same lift and a SAS, and few other various projects. It's fun as all hell, still waiting to build my own rig, maybe after the Taco's paid off.

Small body lifts are great is you are also lifting the motor trans and t-case for a flat belly or for clearance of SAS components. They don't make your wheel well any bigger so you will still probably rub offroad with larger tires.

If you are already cutting the body mount that significant whats wrong with a little fender cutting and removal of wheel well? Why raise the CG higher for 35" if you intend to off-road?

Man I've been itching to build a 1985 4runner with the SAS and 22RE from factory. Get up to 35" tires and I believe it would be a beast of a crawler and being able to remove the roof would be awesome.

I believe 35's will require a CMC as well as a lift, and a body lift, unless you cut the wheel well and clearance the inner fender. TacoRD is correct. You're best bet is to evaluate the trails you want to travel on, and if you really need that much tire, you'll probably want to consider an older trail rig that you can cut and chop away at without risking your $32,000-$42,000 primary vehicle.

We kept it IFS, but there was a pretty substantial lift in it, forget the brand now. It was a beast until the body completely rotted away. Cleaned, POR'd the frame and swapped on a 1992 4-runner body with a 22RE converted engine converted to a 22R. And btw, the Toyobaru is powered by a 2.2L 20R with a Weber carb, using the Subaru wiring harness to run everything.

On a serious note, I have the Toytec 1 inch BL as well as the rough country 3" suspension lift. I like the extra clearance, I like being able to clean and undercoat my frame easily. However, it kinda fucked up my front bumper body lines. If you look close where the front fender and front bumper meet its not a very clean line.

I just put a 1" body lift by daystsr on my truck. My truck has a OME lift and I love it with that extra 1" of lift. Rear bumper is coming off and building custom tube one so no issues with a gap. Front I'm gonna make so brackets to rais it up. As for the 1" gap in the bed wheel wells it doesnt bother me at at cuz its only 1"! But companies make pieces to cover those gaps. 20170206_141523.jpg

Any issues with gaps on front or rear bumper? I've read it's only the rear that shows a slight gap?

Honestly...with the 1" I don't see anything really. But, I do have the cap on, so it compresses a little. I used ToyotaTech. I can send some pictures directly to you in you have any specific questions or would like to see it.

I talked to a "professional" today. I asked his thoughts on adding a one inch body lift to my 3 inch Boss. He said don't do it. You will be sorry. It f***** up geometry, etc.
My tires (285s) rub a little on sharp faster downgrade turns. It's slight and doesn't happen all the time. I thought this may get rid of it. Problem is I already bought the body lift but this dude scared me a little. I have a very slight vibration with the setup now. It's not bad and I am use to it. I don't want to make it worse. I also want to get my pinch seam off my rock sliders.

I don't think you need to worry about messing up the geometry with a 1" body. I would never go more then 1" though.

I was hoping that is the case. I want the body away from my sliders and didn't want to waste the 160.00. Thank you

yep, a 1" body lift is fine, just dont go over it. been done so many times. and like you said, its a great way to get an extra inch of wheel clearance. I also like it as it makes it easier to clean above the frame and when mounting shit to it.
