Yeah, I was hoping wherever you got those might have more of a selection.

 

How did you do your shift boots?

 

I'd like to see someone put the three shifters in the center coin tray deal. Have the 4wd shifted up front and then the front and rear low towards the rear or something like that.

 

Not a ton of folks with an auto trans and crawl box...

 

Yeah I know. I've been eyeballing a transfer case for about $200 at a wrecking yard. It's a CA FJ, so pretty sure it's never been used. The Crawl box is the only reason I haven't picked it up. That's a chunk of change.

 

So for us 6 speed folk, we need a FJ case out of an auto and then have to do the input shaft swap? A stock J shift would be fine with it along side the transmission shifter.

 

Yes. With the crawl box you keep the input shaft.

 

Anyone done the swap on a truck with a bodylift? Planning mine for tomorrow.

Any pics of how it looks compared to the ones posted without a body lift.

 

It's tough to compare my bucket of bolts to another setup because even the trans shifter isn't stock. I Added the body lift for the crawl box install because it gives you more room to clock the transfer case.
Even then I had to "massage" the trans tunnel with a sledge to fit it.
Somewhere in my build thread there's a video that Ant took of me swinging away at it like a maniac.

 

Just needa trim the cup holder and the shift boot.

I love how it runs in the trail now and I feel a lit more comfortable with that in. Will get some footage next time i take it in.

 

I'm working on mine. I'll post some pics of my plan to seal the hole in the floor soon. Got some in my build somewhere, but gotta dig...

I guess I don't have pics of what I made... so I'll just post a few here.
First thing I did was get rid of the nut and bolt because I thought they were too sloppy, and didn't like the idea of trying to seal them up with silicone, plus I was bored... so I made a precision rod with a small head, and two o-ring seals, held in place with a C clip.

Shifts smoother and feels more precise, plus easier to take apart and put together.
Then I machined down the twin sticks block, and made a new clamp with a step in it. When it's all assembled, it will squeeze on the rubber boot and seal. I still need to make a plate to clamp the bigger side of the boot to the cab, or maybe I'll get lazy and just seal it up with some mastic

Still got a long way to go, but I need to finish the SAS first, so I haven't worked on the twin sticks in awhile. I'll post more when I make some progress.

 

Whats the best way to start looking into this? Does anyone know of a thorough tutorial with walk through pictures and parts that are needed? Any help would be appreciated. Also i have a 6 speed.

 

Go read the swap thread on the Rock Solid Toys Forum. @awsumdc Wyatt wrote the book on this mod and there's a very detailed write up with pictures explaining the entire thing.
