Did regular cabs ever come with backup sensors from the factory? If so, did they have a little black box doo-dad above the rear view mirror?

So a little background to bump it up: bought the truck new in December of '14, last one on lot so I couldn't choose another. Truck had lots of dealer extras (tinted windows, clear bra, steps, bullbar, floor mats, etc.) that ran the sticker up to like $26k. I wouldn't pay for that stuff but really wanted the truck (last of the regular cabs) so they removed what they could.

Anyway, it's got me wondering if the backup sensors were added aftermarket. They look factory in the bumper but there is a little black box showing distance above the rear view mirror that looks similar to some aftermarket systems I've seen. The past week or so, my backup sensors go off immediately upon going to reverse and remain on while backing up.

So basically, factory or not, they aren't working right. If it's factory, I'd like to get them fixed before my warranty is up (I'm at 33k, so 3k more miles). If it's not, I'll just remove them or at least all the wiring.

    Thanks for any help.

2nd gens didn't have factory parking sensors. The read out you describe is definitely aftermarket.

Thank you very much. So no 2nd gens had backup sensors at all? Not even high-end models?

Anyone else confirm this for sure? Nothing against you jtweezy, just want a consensus before I start ripping stuff out, haha.

FWIW I have a 13 Limited and I don't have back up sensors, just the camera.

None of that 'stuff' on a 2nd gen *thank goodness*.

But if you like it, it should be covered in your warranty. Dealer ad ons generally are, unless you have paperwork that limits them to some manuf warranty, kind of like tires and such do.

Wouldn't hurt to call and ask about it, again, if you are interested in keeping it. Now that you see how durable it is. :D

Regular cabs are are the "base model" trucks. They don't have any fancy stuff like back up sensors. You could add them yourself, but I doubt the factory sent them out that way.

I may call but it's a couple hour drive to the dealership plus I can't find any mention of the sensors on any paperwork. Everything else the dealer added was listed on a little sheet beside the window sticker and the new price on it. They may deny it, not sure.

    Anyway, thanks everyone.
