You just need to go through your suspension and driveline thoroughly. Maybe even rebalance your tires.

Try this. Pull ABS fuse. Do couple second burnout to round rear tires. Swap front to rear and do again. Now tires are nice and true again.

now is it in the steering wheel you feel or the whole truck?

Not that big a problem. Been going on since September.

 

Steering rack bushing. Fuggit. All the bushings.

 

With the high pitch/high frequency of the vibration, I'm thinking:
U-joint
ring/pinion gear (differential)
carrier bearing
wheel bearing

I had a small vibration at low speed at 2-2.5k, turns out it was a frozen rear universal joint.

 

I wouldn't put it past the engineers to add one soon. Who in their right mind would think to add urine to your diesel exhaust?

 

BTW, I would check the needle bearing.

 

This may sound too simple but I hab this same issue. I finally traced it to the front shocks, changed them out and all was well.

 

Considering it has been 6 months , have you considered taking your truck to a reputable transmission shop for a free test drive as recommended on Page 2 of this post ?
Those guys diagnose these issues every day of the week and test drives are absolutely free ?
I will bet you 50 bucks they figure out the problem or problems on a 5 minute road test

 

I have not done that yet. Hard to find time, very busy at work but ill have to try. I was speaking with a Toyota diagnostic tech that works at the dealer and I felt like a knew more then him, was pretty bad.

 

Inner CV joint bearing, maybe done some worn spot on the sliding surface. Makes weird vibrations.

 

Had that on my Subi.

 

You are correct, stay away from the Toyota techs . Find a reputable transmission shop and let them burn up an 1/8th of a tank of your gas on any road that is the same speed limit where you have the vibration issue and they will tell you what the problem is

 

I had Intermittent vibration at various speeds, changed my u joint behind carrier bearing all smooth now. happened at 90,000 km - covered under warranty

Man this thread is so full of people who either don't or can't read. How many times did you have to say you removed the drive shaft and ran with a different set of tires? Haha

I've dealt with lots of different vibration issues. I've had bad u joints, center bearings, wheel bearings, brake calipers, wheel balance, and vibrations from stuff rattling in the wind.

Some play in the cv's is totally normal.

Does the vibration go away or change if you're turning? Does it change if you get up to speed then put it in neutral? Does it change whether you're on the throttle or off?

I would definitely check wheel bearings.

Can you pull off the front drive shaft and see if that changes anything?

Could be something with the rear diff. that would keep spinning with or without the drive shaft installed.

I would also have a look at the exhaust heat shielding as I've had a lot of trouble with that, though I doubt it's the problem.

I've used a go pro camera on the bottom to find vibrations before, as has been suggested already.

I just know with this kind of thing, it's easy to miss the first time. Sorry about your problems man. I am well aware of the frustrations and it sucks big time
