I think they are just talking about suspension track width, which would provide additional travel / articulation

While I love the power delivery of a diesel I'm not sure it will put much of a dent in Tacoma Pro sales or even the profit. In relative terms it's a small piece of Tacoma sales (tho I bet it produces the if not the highest margins close).

IMO, Toyota has bigger fish to fry than worrying about a limited selling product and that is its gold plated reputation of reliability Poor reliability statistics will affect the brand.

Check out the reliability feedback coming from consumers. I don't put a lot of weight in the "overall" rating as the judges criteria may (& does) differ from my own but, it's hard to argue failure of any system. It either works or it doesn't and that feedback is provided by a fan club of the product...those who bought it (and in a lot of cases it wasn't their first Toyota).

Who are you kidding? You bought a 2nd gen a month before the 3rd gen came out.
    Either:
    1. you did not know about the 3rd gen
    2. impulse bought
    3. scored a helluva deal for that 2nd gen

Why not wait to test drive a new model before making a purchase? Because "looks like a turd" is a legit reason?

I sense bitterness. Again, you know you want Juan.

Let's stay on topic - quoted from TFL
"The Z71 4×4 with the 2.8L Duramax diesel begins at around $40,000. You can expect the turbo-diesel ZR2 to be around $4,000 more than the gasser.
The ZR2 will compete against the 2017 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro. The gas V6-powered TRD Pro can be optioned at around $45,000. The ZR2 will have to be priced around the same level to compete. A fully loaded ZR2 Duramax could potentially approach the $50,000 mark."

If I am in the market for a new truck when the ZR2 comes out, of course I'd test drive it, as well as other trucks. I'm sure it'll still be a quality truck like the Tacoma. As one member noted, resale I would definitely consider. The PRO still looks better lol

Yea, but the Taco looks 10000000x better.

don't need their damn hotspot and other gimmicky shit except front locker, I'm indifferent on that.

It's TW, what do you expect? :D Seriously, it's an enthusiast forum not known for measured evaluation of different vendors.

The one GM vehicle I've owned threw a rod at 85k. Rest of the car was falling apart at 113k and 12 years age. Sold it for $750 on craigslist and was happy to get that much. Granted, sample size of one but it kinda soured me on GM products.

Seeing a lot of a vehicle type on the road doesn't mean a lot. I see tons of BMWs on the road. Talk about being notorious for needing expensive repairs.

While my Tacoma has been fine so far I know folks have had their issues. *shrug*

I looked very hard at the Canyon when buying, I liked some parts of it, but ended up preferring the Tacoma in terms of fitting my needs/wants.

The list is intentionally biased towards the Chevy. "Duramax" brand rotors? USB ports? 4G onboard? If these kinds of things are the criteria one uses to choose a vehicle, then the buyer is a moron; in other words, exactly the target audience to buy a Chevy. LOL.

That would be like Toyota using the criteria "TRD Badging" and saying the Taco is better because it has it (it totally is). LOL.
